Unique Campfire Snacks

What are some unique snacks you make around the campfire late at night? Besides smores, any good snacks you make for guests?

We have a few I'll share.

1) Pickles wrapped in Bacon - Kosher pickles work best. Less salty pickles are ideal due to the saltiness of the bacon too. Simply wrap in bacon and cook over fire in a wire basket. We also put seasoning on the pickles such as cajon for extra kick.

2) Pizza Rolls - Using a wire basket place the Tortito's pizza rolls in a row to fill the basket and cook slowly over a fire. We take them right from the freezer and cook over the fire. Also works with mini tacos and taquitos.

3) Onion rings - Right out of the freezer and slow cook in wire basket over the fire.

Late at night, what is your go-to campfire snack?

I use a cast iron skillet. Sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter, and a streusel topping. Put a lid on it and let it cook over the fire until bubbly. A sweet treat.

For the grands (and us big kids) , I get a sugar cone..smear the inside with peanut butter. Add a few chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. Wrap in foil and put over the rack on the fire pit until warm.

I knew some of you would be all about "adult beverages". A guy we camp with brings this every year. We all buy cases of beer and just keep refilling it. This is on our 2 week trip over the 4th of july.

All you adult beverage drinkers... be jealous! lol.

I introduce you to our Bud Light dispensary.

Sister does big July 4th bash every year. They bought one of those double barrel Slushy makers like you see in the Convenience stores and both sides are Margaritas.

We cut bananas lengthwise stack with marshmallows and chocolate, wrap in aluminum foil and throw in fire for a few minutes.

For dinner, we will slice chicken breast, red pepper, green pepper, onion, add cracked pepper and a little salt with a pat of butterand throw the entire thing in an aluminum foil package in the fire 4 3 minutes or so. Then we wrap the cooked food in a warm tortilla shell, add sour cream and salsa... Boom dinner is served.

Pineapple upside down cake in the dutch oven

Pizza pies in the pie irons

Nothing beats Swedish Fish that have been in the fridge for hours though

For you adult beverage consumers: try vodka (any variety or flavor) poured over a bowl of gummy bears (or worms, etc). let sit for a few hours and enjoy

smores, but with either Rolos or Reeces peanut butter cups, can use fudge stripe cookies

and my favorite: Jiffy Pop or Popcorn in my campfire popper!!

SOS is pretty good! Some make it special with extra sauce or special bread!

Campground Gut Busters.

Take a small rectangular chunk of cheese (we prefer Mozzarella and/or Cheddar Jack and dip in egg wash then in Panko© bread crumbs. Cover that with a thin layer of hamburger, loose sausage or deerburger on all sides (about 1/8" thick) then wrap in bacon. The end result should be no larger than 2" x 3" x 1" thick.

To cook you can do many ways... squeeze several in a mesh campfire broiler/basket and do them over the fire. You can wrap them individually in foil, poke once with a fork to allow the grease to get out and put them in the hot coals for about 3 minutes. Or finally, run a tooth pick through them to hold together and fry them in a cast iron skillet over a fire with some grease (bacon fat works great) or in cast iron kettle on a propane fish fryer.

Not good for those watching their cholesterol but some of the best eatin' you'll ever have! We've been loving these for over 40 years.

We also wrap Lit'l Smokies© in bacon and cook any of the same ways. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. (ours is any of the Bone Suckin' Sauce© flavors)

M'm M'm Good!

One of our favorite things to do is to take canned biscuits (which are awful for breakfast, but good for this treat) and roll them with a dowel rod until they are really thin. Put a bit of oil on the last 4-5" of the dowel rod. Now, wrap the flattened biscuit around the end of a dowel rod and hold over the fire to cook. Don't burn, but let slowly cook. When done, remove from the dowel rod and insert some real butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
