Tony's is one we find way too salty. Even the one with More Seasoning, less salt is too salty.

Have you tried the salt free version?

Great advice all around. We, too, do a great deal more grilling while camping than we do at home. I always bring a selection of Weber grilling spice mixes. All are good and range from mild to wild. Herbs of Provence mixed with a bit of EVOO to coat chicken pieces for baking. Same with a package of Hidden Valley Ranch Mix blended with EVOO and brushed on chicken.

I also carry a small charcoal smoker with all the accessories, but that's another much longer story.

I like Montreal chicken seasoning. Great on chicken, fish, beef, pork, lamb, in meatloaf, hamburger patties, egg dishes and salad dressings. I also like garlic and prefer fresh but granulated works in a pinch😁

I can buy everything I need except two items.

Head Country seasoning/rub. And Cavender's Seasoning. In fact, if I have those two, I can cook just about anything anyway.

I have developed a serious GI issue where I can no longer eat garlic or onion. That makes not only cooking but eating out challenging. As a result of my GI issues, I have combed the internet looking for spice combinations that do not include garlic or onion and that enhance the flavors of food in a manner that is pleasing to me. I now make my own spice mix for Za'atar, a Mediterranean seasoning that is really good on BBQ'd meats. I also came across a recipe for seasoning salt that does not use garlic or onion. I start all my spice recipes by purchasing fresh spices from a local merchant. The flavors one gets from fresh spices are fantastic when compared with buying a bottle of spices from the grocery store. Bon appetite! Good luck and enjoy!

Besides several of the staple individual spices already listed, we always carry Cavendar's Greek Seasoning. I use it on any grilled beef.

That's the stuff I was talking about in my previous post! It's good on about everything as it's not overly salty and surprisingly cheap compared to some blends. Like I mentioned earlier, mix a healthy amount into some soft butter and olive oil and use it as a baste for about anything on the grill...you'll be happy.

My boyfriend is a fire fighter and loves to cook, so I am totally spoiled camping with him, but I do the dishes! I am a really good cook as well, but who is going to deny a hot fire fighter the opportunity to grill? I tend to carry a lot of spices because he loves flavors, so here goes:

kosher salt, pepper, season salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, coriander, pink Himalaya salt, red pepper flakes, chili powder, ground cumin, but our FAVORITE spice of all is Flavor God Garlic & Lemon Blend! We use it on everything, but it is best sprinkled on wings before you grill them!

https://flavorgod.com/shop/product/l.../#804879153375

(a good friend gave me some for Christmas one year and I have been in love ever since!)

We also carry Dale's Sauce, Olive Oil, Worcestershire Sauce and Frank's Red Hot Sauce with us for extra flavor!

I always have this around for cooking. It's an excellent cajun seasoning.

That's my other go-to. Well, the spicy version... Be careful, though. It's very strong. A little goes a long way.

It IS good, and not too salty like Tony's.

I make my own though call it My Mix. It has:

Salt
Red Pepper
Garlic Powder
Black Pepper
Paprika

1 measure of each except the Red Pepper, use 2 measures of that.

It works in whichever quantity you want to make that batch.

I usually fill up an old Tones plastic jar and keep refilling a stainless BBQ shaker I keep on the kitchen counter.

It goes on every thing, from scrambled eggs to chicken pork, beef, gumbo...... Everything!

All the usuals plus, Italian dressing - the oil based - for fajita marinades, soy, teriyaki, LA hot sauce, Hell on the Red, Crab Boil, etc.

Rosemary, cilantro, thyme, celery seed, pepper corns, capers, lots of lemons, olive oils, granulated garlic, garlic, onion flakes, onions.

We have the basics we keep, that don't turn into a brick if not used, then bring the rest from home or local store on the way.

Take Em All!

I decide what to make on the fly so I like to have all of my spices with me. That takes up a lot of room though. This morning I had a great idea. I used these little jars I've been saving from our Hello Fresh subscription and small "bead bags" from the craft isle at Walmart. Printed out some labels with my label maker and now have 3 times the number of spices I used to carry with me in 1/4 of the space I was using! Pretty stoked about this! Now just need the weather to warm up so I can get out there and COOK!
