[SOLD] OldCoot’s Power Awning Support Poles + tie downs
Ok, I’m stressing over this one. I have a set of awning poles and brackets from my old camper. These treated me well for a long time and I rode out some rough storms with them (a couple that I shouldn’t have!).
But the new camper has 2 awnings and they’re obnoxiously far off of the ground. We think we are going to with without awning poles for a spell until we can maybe get triple-pole sets from TURBS.
I don’t have any idea how to ship these things- so we’ll need to figure out a way to hand these off or have someone as a middle man deliver them.
Here are my upcoming travel schedule:
- Orlando for another week
- Cummings, GA
- just outside of Huntsville, AL
- just outside of Memphis, TN
- Branson, MO
And then I make an arc eastward towards York, PA.
It’ll be the poles, brackets, ratchet straps, and The Claw awning tie downs.
I’m think $200 for the whole setup. It’s cheaper than buying new AND it comes with everything you need for a Dometic power awning.

You'll probably have them sold by then, but if not, I'll be at Tom Sawyer CG near Memphis 6/15 thru 17 and Branson 8/10 thru 14. Good Luck.

E-Dad, have you tried to see how far down your awning will pull? I know on mine, I can pull down on the pole and be able to use it at the shortest setting for the 3rd pole (close to what 2 pole longest setting). This would work until you have a site that's tilted or slopes away. My awnings are close to 11' tall

si camper, I should have said that all of that travel wraps up by the end of May. After that, we’ll spend the summer in PA and the surrounding states.

AquaMan, I haven’t. I need a ladder to get to them and just haven’t tried it. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.

We’ll be in Hershey the beginning of July, I may have to look you up then if you still have them. I may need a set for the new rig, as I left all the mods on the old one since it was going to my brother.
Still gotta take possession of the new rig and play with it for a bit to see if we’re gonna do poles or not.

I’ve been using The Claw tiedowns for my awing for about two years, now. They are awesome! No more having to worry about rolling up the awning when a storm is approaching!

Just curious as to why getting rid of the claws and straps as these can be used on new pole set. Later RJD

Not knowing when I’ll get the new poles, I’m just trying to free up the space in the storage hatch. I’ve got 10 lbs of potatoes in a 5 lbs sack with them! Think: those fake can of peanuts pranks where it springs open when you take the lid off? Yeah, that’s my life right now!

Made me giggle... as it reminded me of the potato sack joke...
Will has just come across this exercise, suggested for 'seniors', to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems so easy, so I thought I'd pass it on to some of my friends and family. The article suggested doing it three days a week.
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax.
Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10lb potato sacks.
Then 50lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.
(As I write this I have to admit that I'm at this level)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

Doug, the Wooster painter poles that I recommend are the 6'-12' ones which should be plenty long enough to reach any awning on any camper.
