**pricey suckers. I think I'm gonna cut a few lengths of plywood and tack 'ribs' across them with strips of wood next time I go on beach. Had a close call in the F150 last summer, even with aired down tires. Shovel was useful, but something like this would have been much more useful.
The links should be fixed. Thank you for that info, don’t post links much so it’s easier for me to just copy and paste.
And yes they are pricey now, I think I paid around $150 before for them when I bought a set few years ago, and for an “maybe occasional use” item they might not be high on many peoples list of things to buy.
I thought the same thing about using wood instead but for the thickness needed to support a vehicle crossing an open area (ditch or deep washout) it would weigh considerably more. Even thought of using thinner boards and reinforcing with metal straps, but by then I’m into the project with time and materials for a good amount of money.
