Barker 32 gallon Tote

...... why spend the extra $$ to get a quality American made pooper dumper.
Here’s a quick story, the first time I needed to use the BTAL/PD we drove 8 ½ hours north of Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) to Paint Lake Provincial campground ..... nice spot ... 30 amp, water with-in 130 feet (lots of hose required).
But there’s no sewer .... answer was (purchased the spring RV show) a 32 gallon pooper dumper by Barker (4 wheel down version).
After 8 ½ hours on some of Manitoba’s worse roads / 50 km under MAJOR detours / construction and huge frost heaves – we get to our spot at Paint Lake Provincial Park (1/2 south of Thompson ... farthest you can travel north in Manitoba on [what is sometimes] called pavement/concrete.
Lo and behold the [what I thought was overdoing it strapping the tote down with 4 cinch and 1 locking strap] tote had partly broken free / moved off the rear fold down carrying tray. This was enough to scrape the hub and tear the stem – tire was flat, and I’ve never even used it once (OK I filled it with water to check for leaks but that’s it). Useless can’t haul 32 gallons 8.34 lbs/gallon = 267 lbs.
Replacement wheel was no problem (complete r/r 10 inch with 5/8 inch hub at Canadian Tire in Thompson), trouble was the axel end cap (needed to hold the tire on) is as rare as a unicorn. Lucky was able to reuse broken end cap that I had pried off to get the wheel off (not great but better than nothing).
Extensive search in Thompson, then in Winnipeg shows – nope no one has them. Yup I can order one at Amazon.com.
With little hope, I phoned Barker Industries in USA (really NOT a warranty issue – it broke because of the crappy Manitoba roads not a manufacturing defect.
YUP ..... no problem says the nice lady I spoke to (name ??), send you a couple of sets front ½ inch and back 5/8 for free via USPS.
NOW that’s how you get positive feedback.
Thanks Barker.

I also have the 4 pneumatic wheeled 32 gal. Barker tote. I’ve never had to call Barker though. I’ve used it several times and I’m very happy with it. My only compliant is that it’s impossible to completely empty it after flushing it out. A slight mod in the design to make the interior floor totally flat (i.e. put ribbing on the exterior) and making the outlet slightly lower would cure that problem.

So, dumb (?) question. When off loading BW, how do you know just the right time to close the main valve so that you don't end up with "crap" in the line when you unhook from trailer?

I try not to use my Barker tote for emptying the black water tank but if you’re using it for that you’d use a clear section the same as at the dump station and ensure you’re not dumping a volume too large for the tote to handle. That way you don’t have to close the valve before the tank is empty. Obviously flushing the black tank would not be possible when using the tote.

On my Barker tote, there is a red pop-up indicator that will let you know when the tank is getting close to full. And like itat, I only use my tote for gray water since it needs emptying sooner than the BW tank does.

I could never get that bobber to work so I just leave the cap off that port when filling the tote and let the air out through that port.

My GW tank is 30 gallons and my tote i 22 gallons. I empty my tank when 2/3 full and never worry about my tote over filling

I just purchased the 32 gallon Barker 4 wheel tote and have not had the "opportunity" to use it yet. Our 30 gallon grey tank held up over the long weekend after one of the shower walls broke. I did dump some grey water into the black tank to lighten the load though. I bought the 32 gallon so I didn't have to worry about an overfill situation.

Anyway, the Barker seems to be a great unit. My only suggestion is that they mold in some way to pick the thing up. It's big, awkward and slippery. Some handles would be awesome.

I couldn't agree more, ... because our 42 gal Barker is: 10 gals bigger, 10 gals more awkward, and 10 gals more slippery, ... and some handles would be awesome, ...

I too love the Barker, but a couple of strategically placed hand holds would be awesome.

We also have 30 gallon grey and black tanks, so I bought a 32 gallon tote so I could empty a full tank without overflowing the tote if I had to.

I really like the idea of having handles molded into the tote. Our 32 gal Barker tote is great but its a bit of a beast to load in the back of the truck.
