It should've been fixed before you gave them any money.

I guess I don't understand your question. Warranties cover defects, don't they? The dealer has been great to deal with, I'm not trying to give them a hard time because the manufacturers have lousy quality control. In our case, we had a trip coming up the following weekend that had been booked long before we bought the new one, and we were fortunate that the dealer was able to order one and get it in sooner than they originally expected. What was I supposed to do, say, "Nope, I'm not taking it home today, go swap the plates back onto my trade, and even though we cleaned and prepped our trade and we're eager to use our new unit, you have to fix the little hole in the screen first"? It's a little hole in the screen, not a showstopper. Understandably, the dealer is probably frustrated by people who may be less patient than I who have more urgent problems than a little hole in the screen.

I just expect the manufacturer to fix their defects, that's all. I'm OK with living with a relatively minor problem that needs a replacement part until the dealer can put out the bigger fires first, just hoping I'm not de-winterizing it next year and still waiting for a new screen.

The dealer is the one who get the authorization to make the repairs and orders the parts. It's possible that the 'supply chain' doesn't have the replacement parts or the dealer hasn't ordered the parts because it's a 'relatively minor problem'.

Considering a friend waited almost 8 months for a replacement heater for his car, you just might be waiting until de-winterizing next year. It's not fair to blame either the manufacturer or the dealer until you find out where the holdup is on your screen.

I've read plenty of horror stories of people that pay for their trailer and then have it sit on the lot for months waiting for a repair because they did come across a "show-stopper" but they already paid their money.

Dealers are much more motivated to fix any problems before they have your money vs. after. Just saying...

I'm not entirely sure blaming the QA at the factory is entirely fair either. The hole could have come from anywhere. Including while in transit being delivered long after it left the factory.

Took a while, but FR finally sent a new screen and spline, and I replaced it myself. Wife's happy that it's finally fixed, even if I was the one having to do the labor.

No doubt the dealer would have been motivated if they didn't have our money, but since we put a deposit on it at the RV show and the unit we saw there was already sold and not the one we were getting, that was not really possible. They also had us sign the papers before the walk-through, so again, not really possible.
