TPMS by Truck Systems Technologies

We just completed our first trip with TST TPMS. It works great. There is a little diagram of your trailer on the monitor showing with tire's information is being displayed; one tire at a time. It rotates throught the tires displaying tire pressure and tire temperatur. It has worked flawlessly.

I like this system for several reasons.
It has a lithium battery so I can charge it and then drive cordless.
You can program your own warning leves thresholds for low pressure, high pressure and tire temperature.
The monitor is compact and unobtrusive.

I wish:
The display was a bit brighter as the sun can make it hard to read at times.

$259 for the monitor and 4 sensors. The batteries in the sensors are user replaceable.

We bought ours last year, and it is worth every penny.
Just the knowledge that the camper tires are ok is worth a heck of a lot. No need to be constantly looking in the mirror for flying rubber from a failed tire!

What thresholds and settings did you use? Just wondering,

Peace of mind is priceless!

We are running 57-58 lbs cold in our load range 'D' Maxxis tires, so if my memory is correct, I believe I set the lower setting at 50 psi. That way, I would get a quick warning if I had a problem.
It is interesting to watch the tire pressures on the road. They will run up to 64-65 lbs, and I can even tell which ones are on the sunny side of the camper, and which are in the shade, as the pressure will be slightly different!
I have always wondered, if a tire was about to fail, would the pressure actually rise a lot as the tire heated up from the damage? I hope I never have to find out that one!

Interested to know where you ordered from.
Also, what temps should you expect. I have a laser temp guage that I check tires externally. TT & TV run about 110 - 120.

Had my TST TPMS for about a month now. Just completed a 500 mile run and the system worked perfectly. I started out with 80 PSI cold on 16" tires, PSI went up to around 90 PSI when they warmed up a bit. I understand this is fairly normal. I ordered mine directly through Truck Systems Technologies. Excellent system.

Not trying to start another debate here but wouldn't it be interesting to see the pressure rise and tire temp of a trailer tire with air versus nitrogen?
I am working on getting a tpms and I have factory filled nitrogen tires.

If no one else does, I am getting my tires refilled with nitrogen when I get the steel valve stems and balancing done as part of my TST install. Won't have any results till this summer though when we head out to Indiana for the Ralley. People can say what they want about Nitrogen, I have had it in my truck tires for 4 years and it makes a huge difference when the temps go below -30 as I have not had a TPMS light in the winter since going to nitrogen and prior every time the temps went below -30 I had a light. Also last summer in 100 degree temps in SD the truck and trailer tires stayed very consistent pressure wise even with the varying temps.

Sure glad I had the steel valve stems installed 2 summers ago as Truck System Technologies TPMS recommends them. I just installed Truck System Technologies 510 TPMS on our 5ver. After finally getting the instructions to sink in my thick skull, it was a very easy install. After setting the parameters, it is a real easy install. Tire pressure/Temperature parameters are set for AXLES, not individual tires, which caused me some grief as I first just skimmed the instructions rather than READING them. Now, when we get home and the trailer sets overnight, I will adjust the air pressure so they are all 60 psi cold. I had previously set them at 60psi using a regular tire gauge which was not digital. Now, with a digital readout on the monitor, I will set them all at exactly 60 psi.

I'm running 56 PSI in LR D tires. Alarms at 76 for high pressure, 46 for low pressure, 175 for temperature. So, 20 over, 10 under, and then temp.

Anyone with a pic of them installed? Do they just screw onto valve stem?
Thanks.

Curious question.

Does this system have different transmit frequencies so as not to get a false reading from other campers near by with this same system.

Have a Cherokee 27l. I have already been through the flat tire headache and my tires show a maximum pressure only. What pressure should I set the tires at when cold

Cold pressure should be set at sidewall psi

Since each sensor probably has a different frequency so that your own unit will recognize individual tires, I would think the probability of another camper with the exact same frequency would be slim.

Probably in very small print no doubt. I'll look again.

I also have one different brand tire (since my blow out last summer, a Goodyear). The rest are the Carlise (sorry wrong spelling) brand. Will this effect the handling?

As long as its the same size and ply rating you'd probably be ok.
but I would match the tires per axle imo.

Installed mine yesterday running GY Marathons LR D with cold pressure from 57-62 psi (will adjust to 60 tomorrow morning after they cool) I set max at 79psi and min @ 55psi as I would like the max warning time if possible. Temp. max @ 157 Degrees F. On the way home (about 80 miles), the tires gained about 8psi and the temp rose about 11D F. Interesting to watch when it clouds up for 10 miles and the tire temp drops 1 or 2 degrees and then gains it back after about 5 miles in the sun. Pressures held after about 35-40 miles.

So far, I like everything about the RV510 system.
