How do you drain the Fressh water tank on a SS550?

I just purchased a 2021 SS550 truck camper. The dealer was nice enough to fill up the fresh water tank but I don’t really want to leave it full while in storage and don’t want the extra weight if I don’t need it. Other than running the pump dry, how can I drain the fresh water tank?

There should be a drain somewhere on the bottom (outside) of the tank.

That’s what I though as well, but I can’t find anything.

You might want to give the dealer a call and see if they can help you. Usually a low point drain is located near the bottom of the tank and you might have to take it off the truck to access it. But before you do that, call the dealer to see if it actually has a low point drain.

Be sure you ask about a fresh water "holding tank drain". Holding tank and low point drains are not the same.

There is a black petcock in the front right of your water tank inside the compartment, turn it counterclockwise a couple of times and gently pull up on it and the water should begin draining from under your camper. It will drain even if the camper is on the truck as long as the nose of the truck is uphill enough for the water to drain out the back. We have an early year 2020 1604 which is identical to a 550 but ours is a bit older than yours but I assume they would drain the same.
