I have a few questionsa bout truck campers

we have often thought of getting one for the short trips instead of dragging the monster out for a weekend.
how is the livabilty and overall experience compared to a tow behind?

Last drag behind I remember was the folk's tent trailer. I've had a TC for 15 some years now and they have changed a lot! You spend almost as much $$ for a TT. It takes me about 20 minutes to unload the TC from the 'Brute' with elect jacks. She's self contained, gen, a/c, dry bath the works with a slide out. They are on the heavy side. Mine cracks in just over 3900 dry. Ford says I can go 4200 but this WinterCreek is so tall, I'm going to have to put in bags to knock the sway down. Had them in my last truck and it made a huge difference. It's nice being able to "4x4" into a back trail and not worry about getting jack-knifed or bottomed out. Then you drop the shell and go hunt trout! Just mom and me and the dogs and we love it.

thats a nice looking set up you have, i notice its on 08 truck, did you look at the 450 pickup as well, i saw they can hold 5200 in the bed

we are rated for 4900 in the bed, i bet it would realy squat all loaded out

Unfortunately when I was looking for a truck big enough to sit under my camper, the 450 was only available as a cab n chasis or as a 4 door crew. I didn't want either, I had grown quite attached to my Chev 2500 extended cab with full bed and I didn't want to surrender that extra room or go with 2 extra feet of truck. Now as of my latest visit to the dealer, the 450 is now available as an extended cab. I would have jumped as they carried over all the same options as the 350's. Mine's a Lariat and it is definitely not a work truck , although I occasionally hang an 8 1/2' commercial plow on the front. Can't beat shoveling snow in a heated leather seat listening to the sat radio over the whine of a twin-turbo diesel. YeeHaw!
