When I bought my Maveric Camper in Florida, the dealer told me that when the camper is off the truck and going to be sleeping in it, the front (over hang) of the camper must be supported. So the camper didn't fall forward with weight in it. I haven't heard this before. I have looked a several web sites with photos and haven't see any truck campers being supported while off the truck. Can anyone help me with this?
Was your dealer making a rude comment on your weight?
Seems like a ridiculous comment to me. Way back we had a truck camper, and it was just an 8-footer, and we never had any issues.
But we were pretty young and slim back then!
I've slept in many an unsupported overhang with no adverse results but I'd be willing to bet that somebody somewhere has managed to tip one*. And then sued (probably successfully).
Which could well account for your dealer's warning.
Just a thought.
