Swing out jacks ?

Hello All,

Picking up Palomino HS 8801. Dealer said unit was good to go on truck (Ram 3500 Dually). I questioned the need for swing out jacks, was told I didn’t need.

Thoughts , thanks

My bad! New to truck camper lingo. Just found out they may be called “dually brackets”

Thanks for your reply!

I wasn’t questioning the terminology. I just didn’t know what they were and was interested in finding out, so I googled it and couldn’t find anything.

on my 2018 Ram dually, with an arctic Fox 990 I used this set of extenders.
they seemed to look the strongest out of the different version I saw, but did cost a little more. Shop around for price. I found best deal at tweetys (currently $359 from them)

to install them I put the tailgate down, than backed the truck under the camper so that the front of camper was sitting in at least some of the rear of the bed of the truck. next raise one front jack at a time, remove and install extender.

There seems to be a few different names out there. Not sure if they are a must, or a extra saftey measure allowing for a little extra moving back/forward past the first set of camper jacks

Great advice!

Thanks for the reply. Due to the fact we are under a time constraint here, we are looking at $600 Cdn. That's what I get for ignoring my gut til the last minute. Oh well fixing a fender flare, or worse, even at that price I'm sure tey will pay for themselves rather quickly

cheers

you can measure. It might fit but it will be tight, and a little mistake makes an expensive scratch . Even with the extenders I thought it was tight

It will be really tight, $475 tight. Got mine from Adventure RV in the states for $350 when the dollar was better. If you add those two up it's still more than $600, just do it. For the life of me I can't figure out why they are so expensive unless there is a huge factor for liability insurance.

I have a 6' X 4' Cargo Trailer for sale that we towed for extra storage when we had the camper along with the hitch extender if anyone is interested.

I don't want to distract from this site, but there is a good Truck Camper forum on the Lance
Owners forum. My buddy is a regular on there. He put over 11,000 miles on one
Trip in his truck camper.... then he traded for a TT.

Thanks for the tip, but were not all Lance owners. Sometimes the unit's have unique characteristics, although they all have issues.

I think I just hijacked my own thread

we're headed out that way this fall. If still avail, might pop by for a look. Not sure what our setup will look like at that time, but good to know.

Thanks
