2017 wildcat 281dbk. Trouble filling dread water holding tank

Went to fill the greasy water tank today to get ready for a trip to a campsite with no water hookup this weekend. Did not fill up very far until it started coming out around the hose not out of the vent hole. Gauge says 1/3 full. It will go to empty and then back to 1/3 full before it does it again. Help. What am I doing wrong?

New one to me, what's a greasy water tank? I have fresh, gray and black. I only fill the fresh. Normal use of sinks/toilet fill the gray and black then I empty.

Something I need to know here?

I'm guessing he had some "help" typing the word 'fresh' and it turned out 'dread' and 'greasy' probably because he typed an "a" in each instance.

Thank you for the comedy. Yes fresh water tank. For the record if you accidentally add an a in fresh after the e the iPhone turns it into greasy. Now any ideas on the problem.

Gotta love auto-correct, LOL.

Do you have two fill locations, one threaded for hose and another for gravity feed?

If only one fill then there is probably a valve that switches between the dreaded greasy water tank and shore water.

If you have two, is the fresh water feed gravity fill or ?

Also sometimes you can have a pinched air relief to the FW tank, something to check.

Fresh water is gravity filled. Other is city connection.

I figured it out. The gravity fill air locked. I pushed my feed hose down into the full port about one foot. Then turned the water on full and then air started sucking in through the vent hole. Then filled up to full. Water came out the vent hole.

Never seen that one before. Something to keep in mind for everyone.

Yeah... that's what I mean by "help" ===> smart phone autocorrect logic.

We've seen that issue many times here and, as I remember, it's usually associated with a kink or a low point in the fresh water tank vent tube. For water to go in, air has to come out. We've seen cases where the vent tube sagged down low enough that water got in it and formed sort of a P-trap which blocked air. After air pressure blows water out, the process can repeat. You may have to get eyeballs on that vent tube and remove the kink or raise it so that it doesn't have a P-trap effect.

Oops! Sorry I typed so slow. I failed to win any speed typing prizes.

I will keep that in mind. It goes in Monday for its 60 day warranty work. Make them fix it then.
