It will be interesting to see what the adjuster says. And even more interesting to see what the actual damage behind the panels is.
I've seen some fantastic repairs in what I thought was unrepairable, and I've seen adjusters total an RV for what I thought was simple repairs.
This far away from the factory, it's rare that anything is returned for repairs concerning insurance.

One of the best outcomes for us was a Terry that was totalled, but still useable. Much like the OPs. We took the check and saved it, bought the RV back for a nominal fee and salvage title. Used it for a few more years, then sold it to family for use as a guard/hunting shack. Had more than enough to pay cash for a new one.

I think it will be a total. The cost of putting in a new wall is just has much as a new trailer. And you will need 2 walls replaced
The reason I say this is because a friend of mine has delamination on 1 of his walls , dealer wont touch it , manufacturer said the cost to replace it would be 16000.00

If less than a perfect repair, structurally and cosmetically, I would hope that the OP would receive compensation for "diminished value".

Update: I have a couple quotes coming, one from a local repair shop that is proposing replacing back wall with parts from Forest River and only the rear section of the side with the same($8k-$10k). He would place a seam at the top corner of the slideout and a matching one(fake) on the other end of the slide out. If I did the damage, I would probably go this route. Since 1. it is only a year old, 2. i plan to keep form many years(10-20) and 3, it wasn't my fault, I have engaged with the Factory to get a quote. Initial estimate is $6,400 for transportation from CA to IN and back. $6,500 for each wall = almost $20k. I appreciate all the feedback, you guys have all been very helpful. I also talked to my insurance agent who we have had for over 25 years and she was in agreement it should be put back to new condition, sent back to the factory. I am finding that local shops are not equipped to do a complete sidewall repair, back is more manageable. She also assured me that if the trucking company flakes, or dissapears, it will be covered by my insurance with no hit to my policy. I'll update as I have more info.

So at 20k, aren't you at or near the damage percentage for a complete total? I would push for that.

I had a scary thought. What if they just decide to total it and pay just a fraction of what it was purchased for. Things like 2 years old, used, depreciated, fair market value. Probably best to get it repaired but it looks like those costs are going to add up fast. Plus the value of loss of use. My guess is you are looking at several months to repair. I truly don’t know how I would handle something like this.

It's always good to include your insurance company as they will represent you and go after whom ever for payback with out it dinging your insurance costs . as they want is as new as you do . Had a guy rear end me while on my motorcycle and take off . i was able to find him in a local neighborhood thanks to some others that saw it and told me which way he went . either way i found him cops show up he has no insurance . my company paid for repairs and a couple yrs later got checks in the mail as this guy had to go to court and was forced to pay restitution so got my deductible back . I would do the factory thing and if they total it as long as it's enough to buy an exact replacement without costs to you .

Since it’s someone else’s fault I would take the camper back to the factory. You plan on keeping the camper a long time plus if you should ever trade you want the camper in a like new condition.

The damage total doesn't have to equal the value for it to be totaled. If the insurance company thinks they can sell it "as is" for $12K and they can settle with you for $30K, they're ahead over fixing it for $20K. I'd be pushing for getting it totaled and then replace it.

You would be hard pressed to find that in California. $4K in transportation costs from Indiana plus about 8-10% in state sales taxes and registration fees depending upon the county and city. Plus, we don't know what options the OP's TT has. Our 2902WS had over $7K in factory options.

I would also be concerned about the collateral damage as it was hit on a corner. Even though you get the primary damage repaired are you going to have other damage such as sheared screws, loose flooring, damaged caulk and other seals.

A decent auto bodyshop can fix that where you'd never know it.

Don't re-invent the wheel, just get it fixed.

Had this happen in my driveway years ago. Assumed it was a delivery truck (never found the culprit). Anyway, my bodyshop fixed it and you could not tell it was ever touched, from the inside and the outside.

There are professionals that do that kind of work for a living. MUCH cheaper and MUCH less time consuming.

We had body damage and used a boat repair shop. They do wonderful fiberglass work. Don’t know about your ladder however.

Sorry to hear about your camper! Wherever you take it, make sure they get it done fast because that is a whole season down the drain if you cant get it back soon! Manufacturer will probably fix it the best, but will take forever. Take it to a certified RV repair shop and they should fix it quick!

Quick question, what is that plastic tire cover? Where did you get it and how much?

The factory does not repair their product
It will go to recreation specialists. They do 99 percent of (factory) repairs. The factory does not have the space or people to repair stuff. They make their money building them
Rec spec is the repair specialists. Call them direct. You can Google them. They do fantastic work. It will look like new. The biggest problem I see is the wait to come back
Getting it there is cheap. Lots of rv haulers will haul it for fuel costs. As they dead head back to Elkhart to haul another rv somewhere. Getting it back is another matter, best to pick it up and make a trip of it. If you decide to go that way give me a PM and I will turn you on to the names and numbers of rv haulers and the name and cell numbers of people at the factory and rec spec

First ding in a new car and you don’t have to park alone at the end of the lot. Kite the price take the money get some aluminum repair tape hang a new ladder. Maybe try to find one of those oversized band aid stickers or have a sticker made up that says “ I didn’t do it” and get on with livin life on the road.

By now you probably already started the repairs and settlement. As with a vehicle you need to ask for loss of value. The resale cost goes down after an accident and the loss of value (resale value) should be sought in any settlement.
