8289 wheel upgrade needed?

Planning on replacing the original tires on my 2015 Rockwood 8289. My question is, once I decide on the tire, leaning towards Maxxis 8008's that will have a higher psi than original tires, do I need to upgrade the wheels to accommodate ?

Appreciate your replies...

No, saying that if you up grade to "D" from the factory C , your rim and trailer can handle it. I did the same with 8008 maxxis, instead of 50 psi you will be 65 psi, you can even go to E rated, but the D was easier for me to get, been 3 years now without any problems and I do run them at 65 psi, my trailer is 2012 8289WS. very happy with my choice.

I've been running the 8008's E @ 70 PSI on our 8289 with the stock wheels for just over three years. Had steel valve stems installed and balanced. No issues since the install.

I did the same up-grading to steel valve stems and had the them balanced, no problems.

If your existing rims are 15", you may have to upgrade to 16" to get the LT tires you want. I did.

Does that mean the Rockwood is under 3 tons?
I would recommend LT's even for light-ish trailers. They cost no more, take higher pressures (for less rolling resistance) and should wear better and therefore last longer (maybe).
