adjustment for toilet?

Thetford was working fine, but now the valve wants to open (flush) before the water starts to fill. Is there an adjustment to the pedal?

You may have something up in the line? Does the pressure seem ok? The water should go into the bowl almost immediately since the valve is so close. I'd disconnect the line from the valve and see if there's maybe a piece of debris partially blocking the flow.

i haven't checked mine to see how it works but that sounds like it would be desirable to me. mine is old but i get additional water by lifting up on the peddle.

Valve and water open at the same time when the pedal is pressed down. If you lift up on the pedal it will fill the bowl with water without opening the flush valve. There's no adjustment that I know of.

sounds like they haven't changed anything in the last 8 yrs.
have u looked at the top of valve while u are pressing the peddle? there is a little mushroom shaped plastic piece on top of the valve stem. make sure that is still there also watch the piece that it slides on to make sure it isn't split.

will check that this weekend...didn't know you could lift the pedal...mine, (until last week) worked by pushing slightly down to fill....and then when filled...pushing the rest of the way to flush.

walt, i believe like nwjeeper says, there isn't an adjustment on that.
when u get down there, the cover pulls off. if nothing external is broke, i don't have an answer. u may have to tare into the valve as stated above.

hope u correct it. would like to know what u find.
