Antenna TV reception

Any ideas on how to improve TV reception? We are using the standard wingman antenna that come on our surveyor. Yes we know about the little switch that turns on the small light that improves reception. Just wonder if any one has good experiences with any antenna enhancements that have really improved reception. Thanks in advance jtant

Yepper.

The little amp does not only "improve reception; it is required to be on to even GET reception. When it is "Off" the unit switched to "Cable."

We use the Winegard Wingman and LOVE it. It increases digital reception by 100% doubling the distance it will pull UHF digital stations.

It DOES make the antenna "Directional" though so you must point the elements AT the station's broadcast tower.

Other than the "wingman" I have found that the connections are as big of a problem as the digital signal. Once I wrench tightened all of the cable connections my signal strength increased. You will need to get behind the wall to get to some of the connections. You may want to replace the splitters while there with good high quality ones, that will also help with signal strenght.

Also an excellent point. Digital signals are a lot "fussier" than analog.

Don't forget that the winegard booster sticks out from the side of your
antenna and so you need to go on the roof and check for clearance
in the lowered position. Some of us found that it sits down on top of
something else up there like the top vent on your fridge or maybe
a skylite.

I actually only use my booster when absolutely necessary because of
this clearance issue. I use industrial rubber bands to hold it on there
when raised and take it off to lower.

If clearence is an issue, the Kings Controls antenna may fit. It is 12.5 inchs from the boom. It replaces the entire head but uses Winegard's amp and wiring,

King Controls Jack TV For Free OA8000 VHF UHF Amplified TV RV Antenna (OA-8000) from Solid Signal

Relative size of antenna and mod.

Note the Eternabond under the antenna boom and head. The roof material was starting to show wear at the roof panel seam. The EB doubles the roof protection under the antenna.
