Are there support poles in pass through??

I went to pack the pass through and saw a metal pole that looked attached to a bracket on the roof of the pass through and on the floor of the pass through.

I pushed some stuff through to the other side and think, rather easily, I knocked it down.

Is it supposed to be there? It looks like the ceiling of the pass through is new. Could be a repair from the water damage but I'm not sure if that pole was a structural support or what.

You really need to list what trailer you are refering to for anyone to be able to give you any advice. Pictures would also help.
