AWM970 prices!?

I have committed to installing the Jensen Unit after reading multiple posts on the concert-turd. I guess some have had good luck with their units, but quite a few are happy with the switch to this unit. My problem is with the price! $270.00 is the cheapest I can find anywhere. I think this is a little high -I believe that since it has been labeled as "RV" it now commands a premium price -as evidenced by the fact that one could get the unit when it first came out for about $200. The price jumped up a grip as people started realizing the benifit of the unit and from here is it basic supply and demand. Ok ok... I am going to quit whining now and stop searching high and low over the internet looking for a better deal. I guess there is just not one to be had. The convienience of the three zones, the ability to wired remote outside for your third zone -all these things make it an absolute need to get this baby.

I am in the process of a complete TV cabinet remodel to accept a 32" LCD in my 04 Wildcat 29BPH. When I took the concertturd out and started reasearching it I realized what a turd it really is and am loath to create a cabinet space for it knowing that I really don't want it anyway.... the space will just have to be filled in and modified later to accomidate the unit.

Part of the reason I have been scouring the forums and online stores, is hoping to find that next newest great thing that will come close to performing the functions that I would like to have. DVD / At least 2 separate zones / wireless-wired remote / NOAA weather / etc... Does anyone know of anything new? Some new wall mountable DVD player that will do well? I am sort of torn with going with a double DIN set up that performs near all the functions that I mentioned. For nearly the same price I can get a unit that has an touch LCD screen. Don't think this is too necessary though it does purport awesome audio. Any advice? T/y -jt

The Jensen is a nice unit. We love ours. It does play DVDs as I think you know. Sure wish it had NOAA. Good luck. You'll be glad you replaced the factory unit whatever you wind up installing.

I also hate my Concertcrap but it works mostly so I'm keeping
it for now.
(It has a background hiss ALL the time )

Check out upper end car radios.
They have touch screens, remotes and of course they
play CD/DVD/AM/FM and have USB ports and hard
drives. Pioneer makes some great automotive radios.

Don't let the lack of NOAH radio stop you from the Jensen.
You can buy a portable AM/FM/NOAH radio for $30 or less.
You can even get a hand crank model that never needs batteries
for a few bucks more.
Portable means you can take it in your house during bad weather
or take in in the car or in your trailer!!
I wish the Jensen had it but that won't stop me from getting
one when/if my concertone goes out altogether.

Greetings,

I just recently ordered and installed the Jensen for $245, no tax and free shipping. My 2010 Surveyor had a poor quality unit as well. It looked like the Concertone everyone mentions, but it actually didn't have the labeling. The radio unit's cooling fan created a loud buzz when ever it was turned on, but it's output was pretty weak (no bass), so I opted to try the Jensen. Works great after a little jigsaw action.

Stereo System - Home is where I purchased it. The web-site had some problems, so I ordered over the phone. Arrived in 5 days.

KyDan, Yes, that background hiss drove me nuts . . . . It was like a toothache disappeared when I got the clean sound from the Jensen.

Jtizzle, I reccomend you try ebay. We bought ours there as a factory take off for <$150.

I went online to Jensen's website and bought a new trim ring kit and an IR extender and we were in business.

Yes Ebay occasionally has deals on them but do read the entire
add CAREFULLY.
I've seen Jensen units on Ebay that did not include the remote.

This is true, however be sure to look at Jensen's website. We ordered a "service pack" that included a new trim ring, remote, wiring harnesses, and manual for the 970 that we bought from eBay. I think it was $20... so it can help make a good find.

The one we bought off ebay still had the protective film across the faced of the unit.... clearly a takeoff from an RV Dealer, etc. Very happy!
