Blind spot sensor installed backwards

Hello all,

John here from Olympia, Wa. My wife Dea and I just bought a 2020 Forest River Sunseeker 2400W MBS. It has a blind spot section system made by ASA Electronis called Voyager VBSD1. Well... interesting problem as we’re driving home from the dealer. Our RV has about 3000 miles... so almost brand new.

Anyway, the sensor on the left side of the RV didn’t seem to be working, but the right side was OK. When I got it home I snooped around a bit and discovered the problem. When the left sensor was installed it was not only the wrong sensor, but it was pointing toward the front of the RV! The factory had installed two right-side sensors.

Having discovered this I got in touch with my dealer and Forest River customer support, and they both were very helpful. Bottom line, Forest River is sending me the correct sensor. I’m fairly handy so I will swap it out and the problem will be solved.

I’m posting this just as a heads up to other Forest River RV owners who my have a problem with blind spot detection. If so, you may just have a wrong sensor installed.

Any questions about this fell free to let me know... I’d be glad to chat with you about it.

Ok... Regards to all, John

Good find on the reversed sensor, and thanks for reporting it to the forum! It’s gotten so nothing surprises me on how the factory can screw up the building of an RV.

I have found the blind spot system to be fairly useless. I contacted the company that designed it and they told me there was no way to adjust the system’s sensitivity. It false alarms frequently if I pull a toad or trailer, so I installed a switch under the dash to disable the blind spot detection when I’m towing something behind the motorhome.
