Cable/satellite jacks

I have two cable connections on my Flagstaff, one for cable and the other for satellite. We went to a campground this weekend with cable and I connected to the cable jack. I connected the TV to the cable/sat jack and the TV would not find any stations. I switched to the satellite connection and it worked ok. I took a look at the back of the TV jack and both cables connect to the tv/cable connection. My assumption is the cable from the tv jack to the outdoor connection is severed or not connected at the outdoor jack. I also assume the only difference is the satellite cable is a higher quality than the regular cable. If so, is there a reason for concern and should I just keep using the satellite hook up for the cable tv sites?

Cables, at the outside connection, were most likely switched when installed at factory ?

Since both cables terminate at the same indoor connection shouldn't I get a signal off either outside connection?

Do you have a signal selector switch box? We have to push a button for the input we want for each TV on a digital switch box.

Nope, I just have a wall jack with two coax terminals. One is for the amplified signal for the rooftop antenna, the other is labled sat/cable and both cables connect to this terminal.
