Compartment Keys

Hi, I know, keys have been addressed before but I am having a hard time with this. I have searched this site, Amazon, other key makers and general web searches and not found a good answer so.....has anyone ever found one of these keys? There are no numbers or letters on the key or the back of the lock/latch. It is for a compartment and for the auxiliary shower door. Any ideas would be great. The only thing I havent done is go to the local RV store (makes me want to take a shower after I go there) but I will as a last resort. Thanks in advance!

Can't tell it looks like the key Coachman uses for the out door shower, at least the same black color

Might help if you could identify the year, make and model of the RV you’re chasing this from.

Most keys the manufactors use are pretty much the same such as your locks on compartments anyone who has had a RV had one, owned 5 Trailers they are always the same it's 7 something forgot the rest, might be # 736 or something. The only different ones have been the outside shower and sometimes the city water door, anybody with your model probably van give you that #

I think you’re talking about the CH751 Keys

Thank you, that is the # very common, no matter who built the trailer...

have you been to an old school mom and pop hardware store? all the big box stores have gone to fancy cassette type machines and can only cut about 10-15 of the most popular blanks. an old school hard ware store with an old style key machine should be able to duplicate. or a lock shop

Thanks!

Thanks all! Good point.....12 or so year old FR Rockwood A102 A-frame.
I looked at the ch751 and compared the pic online to my key and it looks identical. If what I am reading is true, I am pretty shocked that there is one key for most compartments out there. I dont keep anything of real value in that compartment so I am not super worried about it, but I may go ahead and put a coded lock on there or something.
Good point also on the hardware store. I didnt think to check but if this is that common of a key they might have a blank and be able to cut it.

Storage hatch locks appear to be universal locks -- meaning ANY key will open them. Main entry door is separately keyed but that key will open all the hatches.

I just bought some barrel locks for my compartments. Haven't installed them yet, at least it will keep the CH751 thieves out. The pry bar crooks will still get in.

My front storage has a CH751 lock/key and my side compartments use R001. Many people own both these keys.

Go to just about any Locksmith's shop and they will probably have exactly what you are looking for.

At least my local one did. Getting keys made at HD or Lowes is an exercise in futility. The first (and last) time I went to one for a duplicate key, it took 15 minutes to find someone to come to the key machine and after another 5 or 6 minutes announced "we can't copy that kind".

Less than 5 minutes at the Locksmith and I had two duplicates paid for and in my pocket.

Oh yeah, most important part. When I got home and tried the keys in my trailer locks---------- THEY WORKED!

The CH751 "Round Headed" key will fit most compartment doors on RV's. The one you're showing is not as common and as you said...Shower Door. That's the same style I have for my outside shower and my son has the same for his, but my key won't open his outside shower and his key won't open mine. Our CH751, he can open my storage compartment and I can open his.

That exact key was discussed at length. Search "Spare Keys For A Roo."

Since I don't like the search function on this forum I at least found the thread. I didn't reread it.

My trailer came with 3 keys, that being one of them. It is similar to my 751 key but does not turn the cylinders. In fact it doesn't work in any of my trailer locks.

Don't be shocked, been like that for ever. If your keeping anything of value, most people put a new lock in, just to keep people honest

Our 2017 Cardinal has storage compartment doors that are "keyed alike" with the door to the coach. The only CH751 locks are on the leveling system (tiny door) and the outdoor shower/wet bay.

And no locks on the propane doors - evidently that is a safety issue.

The key in you picture IS a CH751. You should have no problem finding one of these.

While the head of the key isn’t round like the typical CH751 key, it is the same key. How I know this is, I have that same key you have pictured, with the same cutting, which came with my Windjammer for the outside shower compartment. I also have a couple of CH751 keys from previous campers. The cuttings on my CH751 keys look slightly (very slightly) different than those on this key, but they work just the same for my shower compartment lock.

KEYS: Left to Right

Left = CH751 Storage Compartments
Middle = Outside Shower Door (same key OP posted)
Right = Entry door locks to camper (Pull handle / Dead bolt)
2018 Cherokee 304BS

Son has identical keys for his 2018 Jayco. Only the CH751 works on both our trailers.

I agree this is a CH 751.
I held mine up to the screen and it looks like that except mine is all metal.

I have a spare and will mail it to you free if you still need it.
Send me a private message with your postal address and I'll drop it in the mail on Monday.
