Covid19 project

I have decided to re-caulk my 2015 Vengeance 29V during this work shutdown. As I am looking at my rain gutters I notice the “caulk”, if it is caulking, is grey and doesn’t look like caulking. My question is, does the manufacturer use a heavy duty adhesive to attach the rain gutters to the rig? Is so I don’t need to add caulk to it, but if not what type of caulk would it be? Or is it just a grey colored decor caulk? Thanks in advance for your help!

My gutter downspouts were just sort of jammed up into the aluminum extrusion so I used Geocel to attach/seal the downspout to the aluminum gutter.

That ‘grey’ material is most likely butyl tape and I doubt that any caulk/sealer will stick to it. You will find that it is greasy and will collect dirt, but generally won’t fail. If it is squeezed out too much clean it off with a plastic putty knife. Clean your surface and caulk right up to it if needed. This has been my experience YMMV.
