Dish TV
Recently got a Dish portable antena - Tailgater I think its called. Used it 3-4 times and works great, basicaly just like home system.
However, I have not been able to get it to work if hooked into the satelite port on the driver side of my FR Surveyor, using my on board wiring. IF I run the coax thru window and hook directly to TV it works or on occasion have take TV outside and hooked directly to TV. but the installed wiring in wall I have had no success using it with the dish. I have had success using the installed antena for signal on occasion with installed wiring, and I have als been in a CG with cable and havee been able to use the installled wiring in that situation.
Any ideas? Appreciate everyones feedback on couple of other issues recently. I am doing Spring debug this week!

It should work. The receiver puts out voltage that must must make it to the tailgater for it to work. Something is stopping the voltage, maybe a splitter. If you can find it, replace it with a power pass thru type splitter. Could be that the cable itself it bad. Next time you have cable tv available try plugging it in to the sat port. There is no difference in the wiring of cable or sat. You could also try the cable port with your sat setup. It will work if there is no non-power pass thru splitter in the way.

Do you have a port labeled cable and then another port labeled satellite? On my Sabre, they had them switched. I used the Cable port and it worked with the satellite, but the satellite port only worked when we had cable at the site. Just a thought.

Gbalwin,
I may have same issue with my Salem 42DL. Can you get to the screen that tells the tailgater to scan? I can, and the tailgater scans but can never find all the satellites.
I've also used one of those testers to prove continuity and the wiring is fine.
If I hook direct from antenna to cable box (through a window), it can find the satellites.
The manual mentions keeping total wiring less than 50 feet, but I've also heard a lot of folks say they use more than that and get theirs to work.
Sorry, not able to offer solution, but did want you know that you are not alone.

Had a similar issue with a Keystone TT we had. There was a connection on outside of TT for cable and sat. When connecting power box for tailgater by receiver for living room tv, it wouldn't work. I had to connect power box just inside of TT to outside connection. Had to run a 110 a/c power into the area of connection. After doing that, it worked just like it was supposed to. After having that issue, when we bought our Rockwood, I took the Tailgater and receiver with me to dealer and connected it to see if it would work before I signed the papers for it. The Rockwood has a direct feed to the tv in the living room. I use an RF convert connected to RCA connector on back of receiver to feed signal to bedroom tv. There is a coaxial connector by living room tv that feeds to bedroom. Got a Dish receiver that has an RF remote so we can use it in both rooms.

It's because you have splitters somewhere between where you hook up on the trailer and where you connect inside to the satellite receiver. Satellite TV will not work with splitters between the dish and the receiver. Cable will work, but not satellite.

You cannot have a splitter before the power inserter. There’s no way to get to the wiring inside the walls without tearing the rv apart. I got a through wall tv coax adapter - I think on Amazon for $20 - just ran through wall into entertainment system. Drill a small whole, couple mounting screws and some sealant. Easy job

Sorry I have not responded to some answers... I have come to conclusion that ig CG has satelit or cable, my factory ports work. Howerver if I am using my Dish Net receiver/ protable game whatever, I have to bypass trailer wiring and got direct to receiver/TV.

I had time yesterday to dig around my connectors. It was pretty confusing, but I have to think they are using splitters for the sattellite that do not pass through power.
I pulled out both connectors in the Living room and the outside wall.
In the LR, the left connector was connected to a gray coax and the right connector was connected to a white coax.
Outside, the left connector was connected to a pink coax and the right connector was connected to a gray coax.
My little coax detector indicated that both right connectors were connected to each other. However, as mentioned before I have not been able to get my dish tailgater to work using this connection.
Since the LR connectors are in a slide out, I went outside and looked under the slide and found 4 or 5 wiring bundles coming down the rear corner. I looked in each and in one I found a gray and white coax.
I followed this bundle to the back rear of the camper where it went up in the rear wall.
I have a couch along the rear wall with two built-in "end tables". These end tables have lexan fronts facing the couch that are screwed in.
I had an "ah-hah" moment and figured that the splitter had to be in this "end table". But when I opened it, there were no cable splitters. I did find some power connectors and a cut-out to the outside wall that I will look at closer on another day.
In the end, I wound up cutting one of the cables in the wiring harness, put a connector and barrel on it and now my sattellite tailgater works without having to go through a window.
I'm thinking somewhere in that back wall is a couple of splitters but they have panel covering it and did not give me an access point.

When I pulled the cover off my coax outlet, I found that the sat connector didn't even have any coax connected to it.
