Dometic 15k Doesn't Restart Automatically

Hello. I have a Heritage Glen 368RLBHK, and the main AC is a 15k Dometic B59516.711JD, with just the simple square Dometic 3 wire thermostat.

The issue I was having end of last summer was that it would run fine, stay cool, but intermittently when it reached the cooling temp, it would shut off and not turn back on automatically. It would also shut off the fan, even though fan wasn't on auto.
  • It's not freezing up
  • I typically use either High or Low "Always On" and even the fan would shut off
  • Tried Auto, same thing happened - no auto restart
  • If I cycled the thermostat off then back on, would run fine again on any fan setting - but sometimes when it reached cooling temp it would just shut back off, but could immediately cycle the thermostat and it would restart just fine
  • Over Winter and Spring, heat works just fine (no heat pump, just propane heat that comes from same thermostat
So, any help on the below?
  1. I assume this is either the thermostat or a board?
  2. What thermostat to get? Same one?
  3. Where is the board? I think maybe on the inside by the filter?
  4. Any other suggestions or things to look at?
Thank you all in advance.

Try initializing the thermostat. That's helped in several cases with the same symptoms.

Here's the procedure.

Quote:
"System initialization.
Make sure the Single Zone LCD thermostat is in the Off condition.
Press the “+” button and, while holding it, also press and hold the On/Off Mode button for three seconds. LCD will show ― ― .
Press the On/Off Mode button again to turn system off.
This completes the initialization."
If your thermostat is a different model post back and we'll see if we can find the procedure for it.

Ah, yes. I did see the re-initialization thing last fall when I was Google searching ideas and tried that with no change. Forgot to add that. Thank you, though.

It's likely either the thermostat or the control board then.

Kind of what I figured. Do you know, is the board on the inside part of the unit - like where the filter is?

Also, any suggestion on replacement t stat, or just replace with the same one?

The board is in the plenum above the filter.

It's hard to say. If it's just the thermostat then just replacing it in kind would be cheaper, but if it's the control board, and I could run extra wires from the t-stat to the A/C, then (if it were me) I'd replace the board and thermostat with an analog unit. Of course just replacing both in kind would be a little less work.

Dometic single zone controls sounds like a thermostat, one of three wires loose or interference from the coach. I would connect the thermostat directly to the AC and try.

Can you explain a little more? Like, run the three wires directly to the board inside instead of up the wall?
