Dometic AC

Just turned on the AC in camper and if flashes the temp and E2 on wall controls. The unit seems to be working fine. Anyone know what this means? Leaving for disney in the morning.

I was thinking more of a battery in the electronic thermostat.

could it be that it was just so hot in camper when i turn unit on. The E2 error is gone now. Hard to tell if compressor is running or not.

Not sure what the problems was. Only think I can figure was it was so hot in the camper. Left it running and the E2 went away and it is ice cold in there now. Sure was scared. Off to Disney with rugrats(grandkids) in the morning for a week of fun. Thanks Herk

The Dometic CCC is, to be kind, "fussy". The good news is, they aren't horribly expensive when they fail, but there is a PITA factor of having to get a new one and install it. They're not tough to change, either.
I'll check back here tomorrow and see if you had further problems. I'll verify the E2 code, and what Dometic says needs to be done to fix it.

Chances are, the thermostat is not made by Dometic, like the AC is. You could look at the owner's manual for the thrrmostat, and that could reveal the code's meaning. Sounds like it is working fine now, though. Many of us have changed those cheapo thermostats in favor of a digital model with a battery. They tend to work much better. Randy

Ok it says Dometic on it but that does not mean anything. I looked on their website but do not see the controller. What brand did you replace it with?

I personally bought mine from Ace hardware,(their brand) but any single stage heat pump thermostat will work. There is a wiring diagram included in the box, and it is only like 5 wires. Pretty simple. There are many posts on this forum about thermostat replacement. Good luck, Randy

I recently encountered the E2 error code as well. I did some internet searches and found that the thermostat will show this code if the inside air temp is at 110 or more(or close to it I guess).

I found posts on tech sites from as long ago as 2007 concerning this. Solution seems to be to cool the thermlostat with a can of compressed air upside down or some other means.

Also sometimes it requires all power to the unit be cut off for several minutes to allow the unit to reset.

Supposedly dometic was to fix this bug, but my Stealth is a 2012 model and I had this problem as well.

I guess the only options are to deal with it or replace t-sta with one from hardware store.

I had them same problem. It has been extremely hot here. Over 100 degrees. The E2 error code appeared and the a/c and fan would not function. After reading the instructions for the thermostat the answer crashbot gave seems to be right on.
I reset the thermostat per the instructions and my guess it probably did nothing to fix the problem. However the a/c came back and the error code went away. I now have to believe that the inside temp of the camper was at or near 110 degrees and this caused the E2 error. I think the interior temp fell enough for the thermostat to function properly and not the result of my resetting it. Thanks for posting the solution. I maybe changing the thermostat after some more research.

dometic is aware of the problem my dealer ordered me a replacement. I tried to adapt a regular thermostat to it but the dometic has 3 wires? A 12+ comm and ground. I couldnt find any info on how to adapt a digital thermostat to it... Any suggestions?

I just had the same thing happen yesterday to my RV. Yes Dometic is aware of it. Yes it is caused by very high temps inside the RV. It was explained to me that the thermostats sense that very high temperature and calculate that the AC units would not be able to overcome the temps, so they flash E2.
Dometic advised this workaround that actually did work: put some ice in a ziplock bag and hold it on the thermostat for several minutes until the thermostat itself is "cooled off". No joke. It works! Almost like breaking a fever.
My dealer is the one who spoke with Dometic and who explained it to me. Without my asking for replacements, the dealer is ordering two replacement thermostats for my unit that don't have this "feature". In my case, the AC units would NOT turn on until the E2 condition was cleared, so the ice was critical to cooling the RV. Its nice to have a dealer that cares and wants customers to enjoy their RVing experience.

Just bought my first Forest River TT and here in Texas today been 110. Came home after church and thought i would look it over (only had it 2 days) and the air would not come on. Found this web site and found the answer to my problem. I will let my dealer know the problem. I have had Fleetwood TT for the las 25 years never had a problem like this.

Thanks for all of you who join a forum and post problems and fixes.
