Dumb question

We just picked up our TT April 25 and our first time out was last weekend.

We have a few issues.
....Water heater leaks to the outside of the trailer
.... Shower leaks to the outside of the trailer
.....Weather stripping coming off
.... Tablet does not connect to the router via WIFI. Works when in carriage.

I have called around and dealers are telling me 5-10 weeks before they fix it. My purchased dealer can get to it in 3 weeks but that is quite a bummer to be without it so quickly.

Does the factory do warranty work. I live close to there?

Any suggestions on what to do would be great.

Look at the anode rod in the water heater is it leaking there? Might just need plumbing tape on the threads.

Not sure on other dealers it's the bad part on the season everyone's trying to get ready in the north we don't have much time to camp. Take pictures and notes and let the selling dealer know the problems and then maybe just go camping and try to go without using that stuff (hot water being the hardest)

Pressure relief valve may be leaking as well.

I have found the vast majority of RV issues are easy to resolve. If you or someone you know is at all handy I would repair it myself. Often the hassle of going back to the dealer for warranty work is not worth the time and effort. My concern in your case is the shower leaking to the outside as you may have hidden water damage which can be big deal and should be documented.

As mentioned. Open the outside door to the water heater and try to determine where the leak is. It could be the anode rod in a Suburban or the drain plug in an Atwood is not tight. ( easy fix) You don't say which shower leaks. If it it the outside shower, could be that one end of the hose ( faucet end or shower head end) is not tight. Probably an incomplete job of dewinterizing. you don't say what trim. If it is inside trim, it is just stapled on. One or two small finishing brads and a hammer should fix that. To prevent trim from splitting, drill a small hole ( smaller than brad) before securing. In the time it takes you to hitch up and drag it back to the dealer, you can probable fix many things. I always look at the big picture. It is better to spend a few bucks and some of my time fixing things and using my TT than being without it for weeks or months just to have it fixed for free.

I agree. Look at the water heater anode rod, or pressure relief valve for leaks, thats an easy fix. If not, you have to concern yourself with sustained water damage if you can't stop the leak. Worse case senario, use the camper, drain the tank, then just boil water for dishes, coffee, and use the campground showers till you can get it in. Just sayin'

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

I talked to the factory rep today and I will bring it back to Elkhart Indiana and they will get everything fixed while I wait. I only live 2 hours away.

I am trilled that they are willing to do that. I have no issues fixing stuff but as we have only had the TT for 2 weeks I like the idea of the factory fixing my issues. I will let you know how it goes.

It is helpful to know what sort of RV you have Popup or Motorhome?

Can you describe the leaks in more detail?

Where is the weather stripping coming off?

Not sure what you mean RE: WIFI need more detail.

Pictures are always helpful!

What you have going on here does not sound like a really big deal to fix - maybe a hour? We won't know though until we get more details.

We have a Vibe 308BHS TT

The Weather stripping is an easy fix. Its just the rubber piece above the rear bunkhouse.

Wifi is the tablet or anything connecting to the router within the travel trailer. We can see it but nothing can connect. I assume the password is incorrect on the router.

Water leak from the inside shower just runs out of the trailer from below the bathroom. I cant see the leak from the access so I am not sure where its coming from.

The hot water heater leak is not coming from the cold inlet or the hot outlet. Its from the other side close to the outer wall of the trailer. I am going to pull the panel off on the outside to see if I can see the issue.

Update
On Wednesday I talked to Judd the warranty manager at Forrest River/Vibe division.
They made time for me at the factory the next day. We arrive @ 1:30 received a tour of the factory while the TT was getting repaired.
Judd and Greg noticed a couple of other item that I had not and repaired them as well. Nothing major but nice to have it taken care of.
All in all we were there for about 2.5 hours and all take care off.
Very happy customer here and very impressed with Judd and his team.

That is great to hear! We have been to the factory that makes our 5er and had a similar experience. Seems everyone at Forest River corporate is helpful, friendly and has a positive can-do attitude!
