Could be repaired by a competent shop.

For less than $150 and 15 minutes of work, I'd just replace it.

Is that the $150 LCI junk, or the $99 FIC junkier junk they put on my 2017?

I agree, get the bulldog. There is a reason why the Bulldog comes with a 5 yr warranty.

That Barker Hi-Torque is pretty powerful, but you won't get one of those for $150 either

It's the stock Lippert 3500 LIC, looks like the $150 version. I checked out Mike Thompson's, they want $290 for the Bull Dog and Amazon wants $153. Unfortunately I am in a campground in need of it now, so $290 it is. I agree, easy to just replace.

Just got it off the trailer, it's the $99 FIC, super loud one. Just hooked up the Bull Dog, nice and quiet, I like the light better and the head is smaller so I can lift the tail gate of my suburban. Not happy about $290 vs $153, but it works, I like it, time to sit around the campfire and start telling stories about stupid things we do.

You can post your jack story here.

From the pile of dirt in your picture, like some of us, you forgot to raise the jack.

I have seen that and always wonder-- could I take the shaft out of a manual tongue jack and replace the irreparable one. Or if you just have replace now,can you stick a manual one on then take this apart at home. I would swear the 3500 Atwood I put on our old trailer had a parts list and order form. I bet a dealer's shop has manual jacks laying in a scrap pile from upgrading. Are you in SoCal? I have the factory manual jack laying in my garage.

Could you have installed a manual jack temporarily until you got home and either order parts or get the one from Amazon?

From what I've seen, the manual and electric jack screw mechanisms are the same. Just an acme threaded rod and the nut either welded or staked to the inner tube.

His 1st post says he's in Rancho Santa Margarita. That's about an hour due south of you (as the crow flies, anyway).

Thought that would be where he is based. Out using the trailer and broke somewhere was how I read it. But he is not answering so I am betting Mike Thompson took him for the big buck already and he has his hands full installing it. Boom Pricey, but problem solved.

TOM48 thank you for the offer, we are out camping and I won't ask you to drive. But you and others are correct, had I thought about it, could have gotten the manual first then fix it at home. Instead in a panic, paid the big bucks. It went in smooth and quick. To answer how it happened, I did remember to raise it, just not all the way thinking it would clear as I repositioned the trailer from as less than perfect first back in attempt (slide hit hook up pedestal). What a learning curve.

Keep your old one, that inner tube can be replaced.
