boyle534, I see where you asked direction on how to make a new thread, and successfully did that.....congratulations. You did what many new members 1st do here, and put that thread under Forum Admin and Annoucements. I moved that to the the General Tech and Repair, where it is probably better suited. Not a problem.

To start a new thread, 1st open up the forum that you want it in, then do the click the new thread button and do just like you did this time.

You can practice this by introducing yourself in the Welcome Mat if you like.

BTW, I am not sure what you are talking about with the flexible duct either.......if you can post a picture that would be great. If you have trouble doing that, then PM me and I will help.

Even a "little" info on the type RV would help too.

As said before, a little more info is needed but I suspect it's a heating duct used for freeze protection. However, if it's just a loose piece of duct then all bets are off.

I have never seen that before, but if it is suppost to be there i would but some kind of wire mesh over it so that keeps bug and other things out of the duct work.

If you turn the heat on and find that the air is low it might be a good idea to cap that off. If it is there to supply heat in that area i would still cap it off but then in the end of the cap put a small hole in it to allow the heat to flow into the area, by doing this it would help build static pressure in the duct so that you will get more air flow in the camper.

If this flex duct is coming off of the very end of the supply line you should notice a lack of air flow in the camper and that is not good.

That is one tight photo. What am I looking at?
Is there a floor vent above the duct? (missing elbow?)

What kind of RV? Motorhome? 5th wheel? travel trailer?
What is that in the foreground? The dump mast?

my first thought was a ground strap on a slide out. if it really is a duck, do u have a drier somewhere above it? what abt anything else near it that needs to be vented?

Turn your furnace on and go feel for warm air coming out the duct. I stand by my original assessment, it's a heating duct.

It might be to heat that area if the water pump is in there. My Rockwood 5th wheel has a duct that dumps into the belly where the tanks are. Just one caveat, before plugging the duct to increase flow to other areas, look at the manual for the furnace and make sure that there is enough ducts coming off of the furnace. Mine manual saves something like 3 or 4 4" runs as a minimum.
