Fresh water

Hi all. We have a Wildcat Maxx 262 and have had problems loading fresh water. It is supposed to have a 87 gallon tank but quits filling at 65? When we first got it it quit at 20 because air vent back flow valve was too low. Design error. Any advice on getting it to the full capacity?

Thanks

After the valve was repositioned were you ever able to get 87 gallons in it?
Maybe it was never properly positioned?

Is it gravity fill or pressure fill by turning a valve while connected to city water?

How do you know you are only putting 65 gallons in?

Are you using an inline water meter?

Oh... and welcome to the forum.
I see it is your 1st couple of posts.

Thank you
We use a flow meter on end of hose. We tested for accuracy. We are filling holding tank.

Are you certain the actual tank holds that much? I believe the fresh water "capacity" usually includes the water heater and anything else that holds fresh water. That doesn't account for 22 gallons, but it might account for some.

You could really do a thorough test and once the fresh water tank is completely filled, pump out the water and measure the amount of water pump out. That would then be your USABLE fresh water capacity. Then you could measure the water that comes out of the tank drain to determine UNUSABLE water capacity. That would give you some real world information.

Rock lobster. Water heater is 6 gallons. That's still 15 gallons short.
Thanks

My tank wasn't even close to what was listed in the brochure.

Check the sticker on the side of the trailer and it should show the weight of fresh water when tank is filled (including the hot water tank). Divide this weight (in pounds) by 8.2 and then subtract 6 for the water in the hot water tank.

Now see how close the results are to the brochure claim.

Cqn also measure tank Length, height, and Width to determine capacity in cubic inches.

Then divide by 231 and you'll have the theoretical capacity.

Some cap. loss due to placement of outlet to water pump and vent line fitting but it will give you an idea of how much to expect.
