Furnace Ducts

We have a Cedar Creek Cottage 40 CCK. We were backwashing the black water tank and the release valve was closed (yes, I know it was STUPID). I got distracted and neglected to release the valve, and of course it overflowed into the trailer. It was confined to the bathroom but water ran into the furnace duct in the floor. There was no water showing in the floor grates in the adjacent kitchen or bedroom. We cleaned the water out of the duct as far as we could reach.

I have tried to find a furnace duct schematic online to see how they are connected but no luck. If there was no water in the kitchen or bedroom openings, is it possible the water was only confined to the bathroom? The floor doesn’t read as wet with a moisture meter. Could we run a sponge with bleach through the duct to clean it? Is it possible water leaked out of the duct into the insulation? We just don’t know how big of an issue we are dealing with.

Our destination trailer is another brand .

I am assuming by when you said could it have leaked into the insulation? that you have an enclosed underbelly?. My opinion is that since duct work is not designed to hold water. Likely water leaked out into the ????? where ever ................

Not sure what your duct work is like but ours is just built into / under the floor and not separate.

Did you have much water in the bathroom duct?

Good luck !

Black Water Leak

I don't know if it leaked out of the ducts. I think the ducts run under the floor. We sopped up a fair bit of water but I don't know if we got it all because I am not sure how much leaked. My thought was if it didn't show up in the ducts in the adjacent rooms, we may have caught it before it got too far. So my main question is, if it leaked into the bathroom floor grate, where would it go?

Short answer is down. No way to know without looking.

Not knowing about your trailer 2024 or 2004 ???? Anyway again I ask is the underbelly open or enclosed??

If it is open likely the water would end up on the ground or on top of a tank. If the underbelly is enclosed insulation may be soaked.

Yes I would clean up in the vent when the water was found.

As others have said, there's no way to know. You could get and endoscope with a camera and look.

You should also consider getting or renting a large dehumidifier that's capable of pulling water out of walls. Water can easily get into spaces you can't reach. Setting the air conditioner lower so that it runs longer will also help.

I believe the Cedar creek Cottage has an enclosed under belly just like their 5th wheels
