I've skipped over most of the posts, so forgive me if this has already been said...

I had the exact same problem.

Too hot upstairs in the bedroom and bathroom and no heat down to the living room.

Turns out that the heating ducts were full of sawdust and other gunk from the factory and clogged the furnace ducts!

Dealership hat to cut two gigantor holes in the bottom (coroplast) of my 5'ver to clean it all out.

Oh, I cut a small section so I could take a peek, and found what exactly is the problem. I even snagged a picture of it. If you zoom in on the picture, you can see that the whole duct is torn, and not just a quick fix.

He was talking about a Go Fund Me page. But I found out what the problem is. I will be able to fix it myself, but will be a little tricky.

I think the hard part is over. You found the problem! I opened a high-resolution version of your picture and I can’t see the tear, but at least you know where it is. The easy part is fixing it.

Good job.

Duct tape is your friend... gorilla tape too... good job at finding the
issue... and you did it all by yourself.. well mostly by yourself...

I'm glad I read through this entire post.

Great job tackling this yourself. You've learned stuff for yourself and you've gained some confidence in your abilities.

+1.
Pick up a roll of aluminum tape. It sticks like crazy and won’t be affected by the heat.

Yup....for this repair I would use the aluminum tape they sell for sealing duct work in heating ducts of houses. It’s very flexible and won’t be affected by heat. Much easier to position and surround the tear in the duct work.

It’s really cheap so don’t be afraid to layer it on the tear.

Temporary Fix!

So as it turns out, both of those ducts were ripped. I am not sure how it passed inspeaction, or that they miss ed d it all together at camping world, but I'm rather miffed. They had specifically told me they would go over everything to e sure oh t would all be in working order, which it wasn't.

I'm posting some pictures of the before and after. This is just a temporary fix until Next week, when I am going to attempt to put all new ducts in. Got 3 things of 4in x 25ft ducts. That should be more than enough, and I can always salvage the old stuff if need be.

That will be a lot of work for you. What you can do is just buy some 4" pipe at Lowe's, galvanised it comes in 4' sections and then just put a section in where it's ripped and tape it up. Nothing wrong in your approach but this would be easier. If your going to strap it up to hold it, use 4" wide cloth straps, they sell 1" metal but do not use it , it will choke off the duct, not wide enough. You have came along way in a week, and by your hard work you will be a lot more comfortable this winter, "WHAT A WOMEN" YOU go get them girl.

Glad you found that...

I also had two of those...they were the easy fix!

It was later that we found the real problem...the sawdust in the duct work!

Don't be surprised if this doesn't totally fix your problem!

Sounds silly but have you removed the vent cover to see if the tube is clear? Sometimes they run the hose so far and then cut a hole in the wall/styrofoam to the vent cover.

I already purchased 3 packs of the 4in by 25ft ducts like what is already in there. By the look of it, they arent really hanging up for the most part, only one section I could see it, other than that, its ran through some other areas, but not attached to the underside of the floor as well.

I figure if I just fully replace those 2 lines, I can shorten them so there is no sagging, and also see if there are any other holes/tears in the process. I'm going to have to cut a huge section, and drop it to the ground in order to do it all at one time, then tape it up

It looks like there may be a leak some where also. There was a puddle of water, and the coroplast was white (the coroplast itself is black), and where it was wet, was slimy. I think it may be coming from the grey water tank, but that one I leave open, so no clue.

I'll probably do a live FB video, and put a link for it there, so everyone can see the mess I'm having to deal with, and fix.

Hope you can set it up on FB. after 25 years in the HVAC business, let me tell you first that flex duct is pure garbage I dreaded the day they came out with that junk back in the 80's. The biggest problem I have seen with that junk is the factory doesn't strap it up which causes it to sag. if its sag's you will lose atleast 25% of air flow. They like running it over wires and pipes instead, which causes it to be crushed. You are correct make the runs as straight as you can , you can also staple cloth straps up to the sub floor to support it. At best the air flow from these furnaces are not great, so anything that you can do will help each time you bend that junk you are adding to your problem. Its a shame how these factory's put this stuff in. I'm glad you got it under control...

I thought those flexible lines were for high speed fans, not the low speed in an RV!

A 2" duct can produce like 45 cfm at a 1/2 static, and people wounded why there units don't heat. 45 cfm is like a elephant fart.
