Hand Rail Broke

Yes another issue today, besides the bubbles on the interior wall the hand rail broke. The pic shows the parts that hold it together. Water has entered around the pin at the top of the plastic mount and rusted the tooth washer that holds the spring in place. I have a fix for it, I am going to install a stainless steel 1/4-20 carriage bolt 3" long and double nut the bolt with loc tight. The nuts will hold the spring in place. At this time it looks like the spring is in good shape. Keep an eye on the pins when you move your hand rail, you may want to take action before they snap if they are starting to rust. You can get to the spring and tooth washer by removing both black plastic mounts from the camper wall, the hand rail and plastic mounts will come off as one and will not fall apart.
