many people ask that. typically the only thing the inverter will power is the refrigerator, though i have read about a few that do more. i hate to use the word dedicated circuit. there is a small transfer switch involved (this is not the transfer switch the generator uses). some inverters have this transfer switch built in and some use a small external transfer switch. the refrigerator is plugged into the output of this transfer switch. the to input to it are shore power and inverter power.
as far as the battery disconnect goes there can be many things that are wired directly to the batteries and are not disconnected by the disconnect switch. things that have memory in them or have a remote control device to activate them need to be powered on in order to save the setting or receive the signals from the remote control. our batteries ran low in a couple of weeks even though we disconnected the batteries using the factory switch. we installed a true disconnect switch that cat off everything and our batteries stay charged for months. one caution if you install your own. you need to have battery power available for emergency trailer brakes if you are towing. you can leave the breakaway switch wired directly to the batteries as it is a simple on/off switch that does not drain power in the off (non-emergency) position.
