looking at that, just a little more break on the bearing housing and that could have been catastrophic.
i'm still trying to see what got next to that seal to cause that kind of damage. that area between the seal and the brake mounting plate is fairly close. guess there is more room in there than i thought.

To close out the thread - Dexter air shipped an axle, the dealer had it installed all covered under warranty except the $100 difference to air ship the axle out. Picked up the trailer tonight heading out in the morning
