Is it too Early to De-Winterize
Ok little help from fellow northerners. First year de-winterizing. Wondering the general rules on temps. We are above freezing during the day but still get some nights below freezing. the issue I am having a hard time is we can get nights below freezing into April and we are doing a shake down in a couple weeks to get ready for our Disney trip near the end of April. really wanted the water lines and tanks disinfected and tested for the shakedown.

I was kind of in your same boat this past weekend when we picked up our trailer from the dealer. We wanted to stay out one night on our way back home, but I knew the next few nights were going to have below freezing temps. I ended up, even though you can buy them, making a device to allow me to connect my air line from my air compressor right to the city water connection. 40 psi and had all three sinks, toilet, shower and outside shower blown out in about ten minutes. Then dumped a cup of RV antifreeze down each drain. Very simple and quick. To me blowing out your lines instead of pumping antifreeze through them will allow you to re-winterize your trailer even after you have sanitized it and not have to worry about re-sanitizing it. Just my way of thinking.

Yea, I was really tempted too! But I just looked out the front door and have an inch of snow! Maybe I should wait a few more weeks.

From NW Ohio - I'm waiting a little longer. After I de-winterize, If I know its going to dip below freezing, I'll make sure the heat is on inside the MH.
As long as the winds aren't blowing, a small short dip below freezing should be OK.

As the OP mentioned earlier, de-winterize then if needed, blow compressed air through your lines. Just make sure you empty the water filter cartridge housing if below freezing temps are forecast. I'm itching to uncover the Beast and get her ready for my Son's graduation mid-May down in Blacksburg VA. Go Hokies!

Those of us up here in central Ohio run into this dilemma every spring...we've got our "ice breaker" the 22 Apr weekend, we've had snow that time of the month before...what's a guy to do???? :-)

Last year we had a surprise cold spell after de-winterizing. It was before sanitizing, so left the low point drains open and used compressed air to blow the lines. Refilled the traps with A F. Also still had the water heater in bypass. Don't forget the filter canister and leave no waste or fresh water in the holding tanks. I know some use only the blow out method for winterizing. I think that's fine short term. No short term around here though.

X2 with fireman1317, have done this as well in about 20 minutes. This is how I have winterized since the second year in doing it. Took forever to get antifreeze taste out of water system, even offer sanitizing. In 5 years have never had an issue.
We live on the Mason Dixon line have been out all winter not going to re-winterize when get home in week.

The fresh water tank is in the camper and if it's not staying cold for long you should be fine. Think about how long it takes to freeze water you should be okay. We de winterized our trailer at the beginning of March and haven't had any problems the last three years. In eastern Washington it can snow one day and be 70 the next during spring if we worried about the last day of freezing we would have to wait until June.

I am going to put the battery back in and plug it in to open it up, and recheck the Damp-rid container.
Will likely flush the A/F out next month first trip out is all ready booked.
