Leak detector with only water heater on and wind

Hi, new member, 2nd year owner of a 18 geopro 17pr. I live to far from a certified dealer/warranty to conveniently take my camper to just look and potentially not fix it right the first time and my dealer pretty much told me they wouldn’t help me unless I brought it in.

Since new the propane detector has gone off after 5 minutes of gas switch being on for water heater when off grid. WH is working and lit every time but I could Actually smell the propane. So I bought a brand new control valve/orifice and resealed the whole housing and grommets with outdoor silicon. This helped and I could no longer smell any propane and I thought I was successful with two successful days of no alarm. Then the third day had a decent wind on the water heater side and alarm for gas again but I still couldn’t smell any gas in the same spot I normally could the first times.

So today I went out to get camper ready for season and used more silicon to seal over any screws inside the cover and even took off the black electrical covers and did those, and sealed the power switch. I ran it again for 1 hr tonight and no issues but barely a breeze.

Is there anything else I could be looking at? Like said, it’s only the water heater and all other gas appliances work great with no alarm. I heard that detectors get weak/super sensitive after a few legitimate Detected leaks. Is there any other known issues with the dual element 5 gallon water heaters that cause this? I know it’s a newer model since it has the secondary electric switch.

Thanks
