Leak under awning

Salem Cruise Lite 201BH, Solera power awning had a leak up where the awning in attached to the camper while awningwas fully deployed and angled down. Water was not pooling and water was coming off each gutter extension.Had water dripping down the siding (under the awning) in two spots, nothing inside that I can see/detect. Looked at roof line where edge of roof meets gutter/awning but all looks good. Any suggestions?

There are usually a small screw in the awning track at each end to keep the awning from sliding out. This allows water to get in the track which will then run out. Also there are sometimes seams in the track that will leak. Hard to rectify. If you angle the RV slightly the water will run out of the low end.

Has anyone ever run a bead of silicone to seal it?

I see the the screw, there is only one. Would you suggest I remove it, fill screw hole w/sealant, then replace screw?

My awning drips right over the door.... I've looked and can't really see anything to do about it.

The Screw lets the water enter the awning slide track then it drips out the low point in the track.

A lot of awnings (all brands) are know for two trouble spots. The most common is leaking where the fabric is sewn together. The fabrics doesn’t leak but the sewing thread does. The absolute best product to fix the issue is HH-66. Just “paint” it over the threads (both sides) and leaks are gone fo a couple of years, or more. It’s available sailrite.com (they use it on their products). Lippert and Carefree both told me it has no adverse effects on the fabrics.


The other is mainly for long awnings where the track has to be installed in sections. Leaking can occur at the joint and is easily fixed with a light application of Lexel sealant.

Had the same problem with water dripping down the side of the trailer from under the awning. Discovered several of the awning track mounting screws had loosened. I just tightened each screw back down, took care of the leaks. Might try that before getting out the sealer or ?

Just washed the roof and really soaked/pooled water on the closed awning. It appears that water it working its way directly into the awning channel right around the awning bead that slides into channel. There are spots that are not as tight as others. The screw that keeps the awning bead in the channel is well under the awning and does not protrude out the top. There are no seams in the gutter track either. I might try some flexible sealant along the channel/ awning in a small section to see if that does anything.
