Had to start a new thread about my TT bathroom vent fan leak.
Ok found the problem with my leaking maxxair bathroom fan. Two rubber blocks were missing, which allowed water straight into the TT through the cover clips. I think I'll salvage this and reuse it in the bedroom.
Question what would you all suggest as a permanent seal, I was thinking JB weld or a two-part epoxy? I'll use straws to allow for a channel to be made in the epoxy to still use the cover clips.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thx

Not sure what I'm looking at, but shouldn't there be some putty type sealant there? Something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V366FCM...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
You might also want to get a vent cover cover. That keeps most of the rain away from the vent and protects it from the sun deteriorating it.
The first set of pics is the cleaned up under side of the maxxair vent, there use to be rubber plugs in the holes, butyl tape and dicor on top, all failed and allowed water into the TT. I have everything exposed and wish to permanently close off the holes. I will than apply butyl tape and replace the dicor. I am seeking the best way or product to close off the holes. Adding sealant is only temporary and will eventually fail. I am researching JB weld, Marine Tex and other epoxies.
Thankyou

I here ya, I went down the silicone, and dicor route for two seasons, it would be fine then after a storm I’d have a very wet bathroom floor. Pulse it started to migrate on top of the ceiling toward the rear bedroom, that’s when I said no more. Pulled it and installed the low profile version. This one I plan on reusing once I’m confident it’s permanent sealed.
I wouldn't use silicone. You can't get anything to stick to that stuff.
There's a YouTube video where the guy uses butyl tape, then screws it on and runs lap sealant along the edge and on top of each of the screws. It looks a lot like what's on our fans. (just ignore the ads)

My silicone comment was solely for sealing the holes in the standoffs on the base from the exterior while up on the roof. Not related to mounting the fan/cover itself.

The clips that the red arrow are pointing to are notorious for leaking on Mini Lites. Put some ProFlex in the hole of those clips and it solves the problem.
I went with JB water weld, taped them up to contain the epoxy and ran a wire through so I could use the clips again. Dried pretty hard, looks completely sealed.
