Here is a tool that could help.

GearWrench Short Circuit Detector - 2524

Locates short circuits in 6 and 12V systems right through upholstery, body panels and metal door posts
Connect tester across burned out fuse. Move meter along wire routing
Meter needle will oscillate until short is found
ABTM part number: KDT 2524

Note: Returns are allowed for diagnostic equipment as long as the item has not been used and the package is in salable condition.

Shipping rate only applies within the Continental United States. All other customers will be contacted with shipping rates.

Marker lights keep blowing fuse

Well with all those awning brackets that you had to peddle this year I'd think with your stipend you'd have a good down payment!

Hey Bob, if he doesn't have it fixed by May we could tear it apart at the rally. Might be interesting to see what we could find.

The dealer hooked up some meter that they plugged my cord into, I forgot now it's been almost 4 years but they pull only like 4 amps and it's a 20 amp fuse now. Today I'm pulling apart the junction box I have a DC amp probe and see what they are pulling, think I will ohm the plug end and find the right color wire and test that. Pulled all the markers yesterday no signs of water anywhere and they all work when jumper out. I'm going to google that short meter and see what people are talking about. I have a 110v tracer but I don't think that will pick-up 12V. At least the water pump is fixed now.

Glenn, are you at your Winter location now? Do you have to Move every 2 weeks? Are you still walking 6 miles a Day? Power Lifting around 300#? Buying Stock in a Fuse Co.? Hope you find the short! PS, Don't Swim your Normal 5 miles every day if there is Red Tide! Don't Drink the Water (Safe there) and Don't eat the Fish you catch Every Day! Youroo!! Army Strong!

Yep, put in a big enough fuse and that pesky short would definitely be eliminated.

Plug a 20 amp fuse into the trailer umbilical cord to terminals 3 & 4 (the ones on each side of the tang) and if it blows, it's the trailer wiring, if it doesn't blow, it's the Found On Road Dead.
He bought a new truck so by process of elimination the Trailer is at fault. I would take each light out and check all connections myself. My Money is still on the cap area, they did work there getting the bumps out!

Well in a different land at a different time we used to trace blown Triax cable plugging it into 120 VAC at 20 amps, usually smoke or a hole blown in the cable would show up quickly.

Ground a test light into the pig-tail ground , test with light into other sockets (taillights), see if the light lights, then do the same with an ohm meter
