MORryde external steps

Has anyone installed these hinged external entry steps? I am wondering about access to the rv during ferry transport etc. Close quartered storage off season etc.

Hello,

Just bought a fifth wheel with them. I would say access would be next to impossible. In my storage lot I had to move today to put mu stairs down. They take a lot of room.

I don't have them but it all depends on how close you are to the obstruction. I figure they are roughly 4 to 5 ft tall. If you are closer then that you can't deploy them therefore access to your trailer is compromised. I have researched them throughly and was going to buy them then I weighed the negatives and for me the negatives outweighed the positives.

I have ‘em and like ‘em. I store mine in a shed at home and have plenty of room. I’ve never had access problems. We need ours for DW’s bad back & vertigo. See the thread for both sides of the story: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ps-177515.html

What clarence do you have between your rig and the shed wall. Is it the one in your pic? If so you have ample clearance to deploy your steps and I'm envious lol. My rig is about 3 ft from my neighbor's at our storage facility. Using a template i made i wouldn't be able to deploy them therefore not having access to the inside of my trailer without pulling it out

I retro fitted them to our 5'er. Couldn't get them to work without removing the screen door. To be able to use them in our storage facility, I'd have had to put the left side of the 5'er all the way to one side. I returned them. Too much hassle for me.

Yes, in post #101 in the linked thread. The shed is 18’ wide — the narrowest width for a 40’ long shed. Of course, the open sides would be an advantage if the shed were narrower.

Open ends and open sides — can’t keep cows or hay in it ===> shed. Ha!

That’s one of the reasons why I like the Torklift Glowstep Revolution steps better:
Product Review: Glowstep Revolution by Torklift | Learn To RV

All of the Pros of the MorRyde steps, none of the Cons.

New steps

I have them of my camper, But I have two doors, The steps were installed on
front door, Used rear door folding steps for access in tight places. I did have to remove 1/2" from bottom of screen door. Very easy to do.

Thx for comments. I think will cancel. Accessing rv on crowded ferry wud be tough. Like the man said, weigh + against -. Negatives win.
