Nitrogen in tires myth

All I know is the FACT that my TPMs told me the nitrogen tires rose more in pressure than the air-filled. They are accurate, so I have no question about that FACT.
Maybe the racing "experts" can explain that?

windrider, any member can start a poll. I think in the case of this 1, with the probability that more people run air than nitrogen, it would indicate more blowouts with air.

Nitrogen will not support spontaneous combustion/explosion in your tires. That's its only benefit. Large airplanes use nitrogen for that reason. There were several airline and military airplane accidents back in the early 1960s caused by in-flight tire explosions after the landing gear was retracted, usually caused by an overheated brake that had dragged during taxi and takeoff. After Boeing did some research, they recommended a switch to nitrogen.

If your RV can do 140 mph for two miles or so with a dragging brake. maybe nitrogen would be a good idea. Otherwise, it's a waste of money.
