I would fill the hole, smooth the filler or go to Lowes and in their nut & bolt department they have assorted sizes of white plastic plugs in white, tan, black. Insert the plug in the hole with a good filler/glue. You can even get a yellow or red body reflector with double back tape on the back, just stick the reflector over the hole until the rally. Put in a job order to get the factory guy to repair the damage!! I saw some body work at the rally the tech's did, was impressive.

I agree with Old Coot, keep it simple. Cut the screws then caulk.

For the hole closest to the awning (the less visible one) I would back the screw out and caulk/smooth or use buttons as the others recommended, but for the top hole I'd figure out something I could attach to the exterior (flagpole holder, etc.) that would not mess up the aero too much and would look like it was "on purpose." If you're going to have a hole in your rig anyway, why waste it?

I'm with most. Put in smaller screws and put some white caulk in the holes let'er dry.
No one will know anything about it. 'cept the 200 or so that read this and we will track you down and ask"Hey what are those two holes up there.;o)

So it turns out the one by the awning is a broken off drill bit not a screw. It would appear I have married a real Tim allen.

The body is fiberglass use boat gelco repair instead of silicone. You can still press it in to the hole like silicone but it is a more permanent fix. and dose not crack or shrink. You can also blend coloring to match outside. Pck it up at any boat shop.

When Given Lemons make lemonade, or in this case get an awning lock something like this Camco 42551 - RV Trailer Camper Sun & Shade Awning and use the holes ore cover with something useful. Another option is fill holes with epoxy and dab a little paint, at that height no one will notice.
Or as the others have said easiest fix caulk and forget.

I agree with coot. Match up the color with an exterior caulk, cut the tip off about the same diameter as the wound, stick tip right on the wall and fill in the hole, wipe it down with a finger tip. A soap water solution on your finger will keep your finger clean.

I think I missed whether the TV is firmly anchored - if yes, then "mission accomplished congrats" goes to husband.


Patching holes in fiberglass outer wall will make them waterproof. Pay $$$$ for someone else or DIY for $. Be sure to use masking tape to avoid spreading gelco too far.


Afterwards you should go camping, often! You can:

1. Make up a story about being shot at by (fill in the blank) to explain the patched holes - better be good or spectators will detect coverup.
2. Look for the perfect "camping inspired decal" to affix over the patch - though it must be one that "looks perfect" in that location, or can be explained by a good cover story.
3. Sell the rig so your husband does not ever have to be reminded that he is, after all, human.

grasp the broken bi with a pair of vise grip pliers preferably from inside and back it out. If you can't get a hold from inside grasp from outside and twist it slowly through till you can get it out. then fill hole as most have said.

Ok I let DH try to redeem himself today....under direct supervision. He put shorter screws in the tv bracket holder. He then put a screw in from the outside with clear silicone caulk in the hole and around the screw. It turned out better than I thought it would. I think we will go with fix and forget.

Besides the option of cut off or shorter screws and sealant, I would consider coming in from the outside with machine screws and rubber washers. The holes are in the right spot already and the machine screws and inside nuts might be a more secure option than shortened screws.

Remove the screw and insert another screw from the outside and install a decorative screw cap. You will still see it but think it belongs there.
