Phone Jacks in Campers

With mostly eveyone having cell phones and I have yet to see a phone connection on a camp site, has anyone come up with a mod or an Idea on what to do with them? I am sure it could be used for something. This gives me something to think about now that camping season is over.

I actually use mine for the DirecTV Tivo unit. I plug in the coach about once a month so the unit calls in at night for new updates to come through.

I'm sure a 5 year old with a peanut butter sandwich could figure out something to do with it. They always find a way to insert a PB&J in to just bout' anything....LOL

There really was a kid who shoved a PB&J into the family VCR because "it told (him) it was hungry"...so the Dad goes out and gets a new VCR. Within a week this new VCR had developed a taste for PB&J, too!!

So now the kid is not allowed to leave the kitchen with food.

We usually record a bunch of stuff, especially on Starz or HBO free weekends. Then if we're somewhere that doesn't have good reception or cable we just watch them. I usually record the Nascar Races so I can be doing something else then watch the race and skip the commercials. When there's a boring race I fast-forward so they're going around 300 mph. We really enjoy having it.

Here are a couple ideas. First, tv and radio reception where you wouldn't get it elsewere

The phone line is a blank line from outside to inside the camper, you can find adapters online from phone jack to RCA or phone jack to Coax, so there are possabilities. hook up the adapter to your stereo speaker output inside and another adapter for to hook up external speakers. the same for an outside TV. Or make one form an old phone cord to what ever end you want with parts form Radio Shack, there just wires, and with no external source it should be no problem

The phone wires aren't fully insulated, so the clarity won't be digital per say

I was amazed at one campground in tahoe we recieved a discount, because the phone line was not working at our site. I didnt even know we had a phone jack?...LOL I was blown away. that was many years ago and I was still new to the luxurys and concepts of RVing and not camping.
