Propane Tank & A/C Cover ?

My black plastic propane cover and the top of my A/C cover are fading to gray
Has anyone ever tried re-painted them ? I was thinking of trying something like Krylon spray paint for plastic and see how that works ? Any input would be appreciated.

I haven’t painted R/V plastic but have painted the black Jeep fender flares that were turning gray with Krylon Fusion paint. It’s specifically for plastic. I had really good results with it.

Like Nosedive said paint specifically for plastic and outdoor use should work fine, let the forum know about the results you get so others can benefit from your experience.

Painting is all about the prep work. There is a special primer for plastic. I don’t like to paint.

Krylon spray paint for plastic worked good for me

I've used this paint on a couple of green plastic recliners the DW wouldn't let go. It has lasted at least 4 yrs. w/o peeling or cracking. The plastic was in bad shape (pitting, you could scratch it and get it under your nails, etc.). Only prep I used was a good power washing. They have started to oxidize a little, but they've been out in the weather unprotected the whole time.

I use Krylon Fusion, white on lots of Plastic Do Dads that have turned "Yellow" that started out Life as "White"! I think it is a Industry Standard that "Door window glass trim/Stove Ex vent covers/Storage door hold open clips/outside 120V covers/ outside door light cover/license plate bracket-rear tail lights/roof stack vent covers/and refer vent doors must All turn "Yellow"! Youroo!!

When I had my A/C unit replaced under warranty they somehow replaced my black cover with a white one. They claimed that they had no idea what happened to my original cover. They forked up $50 to cover expenses for me to paint the cover black. Sand the covers lightly, use a primer for plastic, and as previously posted use a paint for plastic. I always finish off with an enamel clear coat. My cover is now a nice looking black with just a bit of gloss. I also have painted various plastic things around the house with paints just for plastic.
