Rv power drop

So while driving over the cascade Mountains in Oregon. We let off the gas quickly to pull off the side to let cars pass by. Attempting to re-enter the road, it felt like the vehicle was stuck in a higher gear. I attempted to proceed again, the same thing happened. Then I felt a clunk and it went into first gear and acted normally afterwords. Any ideas of what this could’ve been? My service light came on also. I have a 2003 Windsong, Workhorse engine Chevy 8.1 and Allison transmission.

Sounds like the transmission didn't get the signal to downshift. Did you try putting it in low manually before starting?

It may have been a one time fluke, but since it set the MIL you should probably have it checked. Most Autopart stores can read the codes and then you can look it up and see what it says.
