Safe to leave battery on?

Bought a mini lite last year. On first trip battery got hot and smelled of sulfur. Have a WFCO converter. our mini is a 2017. It was the Original battery, I’m pretty sure. Previous owners did not use camper much. We bought a new deep cycle battery and installed it. Is it safe to leave battery switch on while on shore power? Don’t want to see this one overcharged!

Yes, it should be 100% safe and is designed to be connected while on shore power.

Wouldn't think so being a 2017 unit but hopefully your converter is not a single stage charger.

What model of WFCO converter do you have? It will be on the front of the units behind the hatch.

Will you always have electric hookups? Will you be dry camping or boondocking? Do you have a 12v only fridge or residential fridge?
Your simple question is not simply answered without more information. Like what year, make and model number of RV do you have since it's not listed in your profile or signature?

To check for overcharging - my experience is that 2 of 2 WFCO 8735P converters never dropped into float mode - measure battery voltage daily while plugged in. Battery voltage should drop to 13.2V after at least 2 days at 13.7V. My WFCO 8735P converters never went below 13.7V, hence over-charging batteries. Other model WFCOs seem to do better.

I replaced with Progressive Dynamics 4135 converters, which go to all 3 modes as needed (checked by voltage).
