A good stud finder won't find the joists in a Rockwood roof, because there aren't any. Unless you mount them on either side of the AC, you're screwing it into plywood.
From correspondence with a Rockwood rep, "We do not place any joists on the roof other than to brace the AC. There is 3 ½” block foam all throughout the roof and that is what gives it its strength (fully walkable) while also keeping it lightweight."
That statement is corroborated by the image below, snipped from a
promotional video on the Forest River web site. You'll see aluminum crossbeams only where an AC unit could be mounted in the center. (The roof penetrations haven't been cut out yet, in the video.)
