Spare parts to keep on hand

Fellow FROGs, we are preparing to launch a spring, all-Texas road trip and DW asked me what "spare parts" we need to have on board. I'm assuming she's talking about for the trailer and not for me. Light bulbs, fuses, what else? I always have plenty of tools, of course, being a certified male and all. What sort of spare parts do you haul around? Thanks in advance!

I keep a box of various screws, nuts and washers, a tube of RV sealant, a roll of duct tape, and spare pins for the hitch just to name a few.

No real parts, except a spare motor for my awnings. But I bought that for 25.00 bucks, other then that parts are easy to get, oh yea forgot a set of bearings and studs. Sometimes hard to get, plus that would keep you on a side of the road forever.

A short piece of 1/2” PEX pipe and a few 1/2” SharkBite couplings, 90s and maybe a couple female and male adapters. A couple of caps may come in handy as a last resort for non-fixable things.

A twist on waste valve. Hopefully you will never need one but if you do you'll be so happy you have one.

This is a good one! You never know when or if you will need it, but when you do, you will be so happy you have it.

I don't carry a lot of parts per se, but I recommend a set of wheel bearings and seal. As mentioned above, they're not easy to find everywhere and that can keep you on the side of the road a long time trying to find a set and get them installed.

Also as Tim said, assorted screws, bolts, nuts, washers, I also carry fuses, wire nuts, ty-raps, RV sealant, a roll of Eternabond and duct tape, a spare brake/tail light bulb for the RV (though you can usually find those almost anywhere).

I have a spare sets of brakes on the backing plates, but I don't normally carry it with us. However, when we make the big trip in a couple of years I will probably make room for a couple of them. I'll also make room for a second spare tire and wheel.

I carry various tools. As a guy...too many probably.
BUT spare parts are the 12vfuses, nut/bolts type things. Duct tape, electrical tape. A tube of Dicor caulk and a caulk gun. cords, ropes, etc. I had an extra set of wheel bearings and seals NOT that it did me any good.
I do have an extra frig electric panelboard because I ordered one and it did not arrive on time so I had to go buy one(more expensive) to go on a trip. and just to lazy to send it back so I have a spare now.
enjoy your trips,
randy
ps camping season is just around the corner...

Let me ask you a question, do I just go to Ace and ask for these connectors, and do I ask for 1/2" plex?

Lots of good suggestions. Write all that down.

Roll of Eternabond tape. And Dicor sealant (and a caulk gun!! I forgot mine this trip).

Rolls of electric tape.
Boat cushion and tarp (for crawling under trailer).
Rags.
1 and 1/16 open end long wrench (for anode rod if you have Suburban HWH).
GOOD flashlights. Batteries.
Drill. Bits. Tips.
Battery blower.
Water hose and regulator.
Old clothes if a BIG under-trailer project ensues.

Go into any Lowes/Home Depot, plumbing section.
Ask for 1/2 inch pex. An 8 foot piece is just a few bucks. Cut it into some 2 ft sections.
Ask for some "push on" or "gator" or "sharkbite" type 1/2 inch fittings. Both streight and 90 degree. Will allow you to fix most leaks or bad fittings. Everything probably won't cost more than 15 bucks, but invalvuable if your on the road somewhere and need em.

If your traveling from warm to cold weather. As I was the last few days, I would have given a $1000.00 for a heat gun or hair dryer to thaw out my black water drain valve this morning. Had to dump in 3 gallons of antifreeze and hope this will keep my black tank from freezing up and doing some damage before Spring gets here in Minnesota. Maybe by June..

Studs? 4 bearings and seal sets I have, never thought of studs, even though I lost some when I was a teenager, was stranded out of town. Good idea, will put it on my list with some lug nuts
