Tire Minder clips

Wondering if anyone out there has changed their clips that connect to battery the Tire Minder TPMS booster. I have the one that's solar powered. Pics attached for clips and TPMS

My question is why wouldn't you change them? Those are terrible clips!

alligator clips should never be used except for short time testing. Also be sure and use an appropriate fuse.

Agreed, as an electronic engineer I use alligator clips daily in my work. Alligator clips are to be used for a temporary connection.

I suggest you replace them. Then find a place to get the needed 12V that is not in a corrosive environment.

Also, in the picture, looks like maintenance is needed for the battery connection of the larger cable attached to the battery terminal.

I want to. Just need to know what type. These only go on when I'm traveling. They are off when parked. Looking replace with something stronger. Better quality. They are not on all the time

I just did an Amazon search for you. I was going to suggest a decent "alligator" clamp like those on jumper cables. This was the first thing that popped up. Looks totally cool and at $8 the price is right. I want to buy one just because. I have no need.

Not for this case but that looks good, especially for people that need to disconnect the battery in storage. I have never seen these before

Look on Amazon for Mueller Alligator Clips.

Mueller alligator clips are some of the better ones.

Just mounted my booster and planning to change the clips to ring terminals and add a switch to the positive to prevent parasitic battery drain.

Your welcome. As an FYI the factory installs the TPMS booster under the trailer near the 7 wire junction box. This location is down stream of the disconnect switch. SO you could leave it attached if you already disconnect when storing.

If this TPMS booster has lower current draw, and you feel you need to disconnect it during storage, I would suggest a fused ring lug pigtail connected to the battery, and using a 2 pin SAE connector to the booster wiring. This would be just like you would use for a battery maintenance charger, sometimes call a battery tender.

A switch, as already mentioned, would be fine instead of the SAE connector, if you have a good weatherproof place to mount it.

The alligator clips are a very poor choice. If Tire Minder supplies these type clips with the product, they ought to be ashamed.

Amen to that.

Those alligator clips are about as sorry as they come. And since you disconnect them when parked, why the deterioration? Lousy clips in a harsh environment, I'd say.

I permanently attached the power leads to my TPMS repeater to the marker light circuit of the trailer. I always tow with headlights or marker lights on anyway.

Would you happen to have a link to what type of switch?

NO, I haven't picked one out yet but they should be easy to find in an auto parts store or one of the home improvement stores.

Hey a question. How long is your trailer? And how does the system work? I've been looking at that Tire Minder system but my trailer is 30 feet long, and more problematic is that I have 80 PSI tires. I'm trying to figure out what "70 max PSI" means.

70 max PSI means that is the highest PSI that the sensors will read. More than likely the system will show a 70 PSI reading on any tire that is at or above 70 PSI.
