Toilet smell

I am getting a bad odor when I double flush my toilet. If I just do it once it does not happen but If I flush and the open a little while putting more water in the bowl I get a bad odor. This never happened with my other camper. Could I have a vent issue?

Is your exhaust fan running when you flush, if it is you can pull sewer gas out of the tank.

Unlike a conventional toilet, RV toilets don't have a trap or a way to stop odors. When you do the second flush, you are letting the smell from your tank into the room. If you are trying to add more water to your black tank for the second flush, just hold the handle, or foot pedal, part way, to let more water ONLY in to the bowl, the when almost full, go all the way with a quick flush. I do hope you are keeping your black dump valve closed, and only opening for flushing every few days. Else you are trying to vent the sewer system through your toilet, and asking for other problems later on.
